Thanks Tom,
I was about 4 ft away and I used an EF 24-70mm 1:2.8 lens with flash. I wish I could have cloned out the burnout from the flash but challenge rules did not allow.

Another ribbon Lawrence! Well done and well deserved. I love the perspective on the shot. The wire up above and the reflections in the eye make it a real abstract. Australian Tree Frogs rule!

ah! i knew this might be you! the crazy thing about this image is that it's almost unbelievable that the eye and the wire above it are sharing the same space. if you cut the picture in half horizontally, they could easily be two different photos; but the reflection in the frog's eye is what makes them inseparable.

Very different in style form many of the abstracts in this challenge, but very intriguing to look at. I really enjoy the play of light through the grate above down onto the reptile(?). Well done!

Dont care much for the harsh lighting on the bottom of the eye

9 - Very good. Colors, textures and composition all very good. The only 'nit-pick' would be the blue reflection, but fairly minor. Even more definition and clarity - but that is likely lens dependent. Might sound 'minor', but for such a good shot, wish there was no 'typo' in the title. edit:typo

What a shame about that hot spot. The greens here are wonderful and the composition really interesting.
