 The sucker was hogging on juices from my sweet smelling flowers in my balcony garden. The warm and crisp winter sunlight was perfect for me to capture the shot. The shallow DOF was auto set by my camera as I clicked in super-macro preset mode.

- Selective de-saturation
- Some sharpening and saturation of fly
- Saved for web

Congratulatons on a top 20 finish and for almost making the top 10.

Very stunning image color balance wise. The white or light colored background makes the rest of the colors pop right out. Nice pose on the subject as well. I myself would have liked to have seen the flowers the insect was perched on in a little more focus. IE not such a shallow depth of field. The size of the insect is perfect. Perfectly placed as well within the frame. I think it works perfectly for a square crop. But ultimately I think people are tired of seeing macro insects. Thats about the only reason i can think for you not to finish in the top 10 or even higher.

great detail; who ever knew they had rainbow styled wings? The flower looks like popcorn; but you have that wow factor; and rightly so; great shot.

the flowers are so overexposed that they can't be ignored, and it ruins this photograph, i love the bee though!

oh, wow! This is stunning! It should finish top 5, and it's the best shot so far in my judging...selective desat works well as it lifts that little sucker right off the screen 9
