Challenge: Duotones II (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Canon EOS-1D Mark II
Lens: Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM

I got home about an hour before sunset the other afternoon and the light was great so I threw the gear in the car and went to see what I could find. Found a Snowy Egret, who was unbelievably unconcerned about my interest in him, fishing in a tidal creek . Got several shots I really like but thought this one would translate the best as a duotone.

Adjustments: duotone curves, brightness (-10), curves

From the CC

How come I always wind up with the photos that have NOTHING to critique. All I can say is MAGNIFICANT. This shot is so well done. Everything about this picture is IMO perfect. I'm actually at a loss for words here. Very well done.

What a great first challenge entry! I think I like the original even better, by the way, but it is lovely as a duotone.

Beautifully toned. Beautifully processed all round, in fact. Not my kind of photograph, but I can't help but admire the technical skill. And I'd better get used to admiring it, because it's surely going to ribbon. I'd guess blue ribbon, appropriately enough. 7.

This is a beautiful composition. The reflection is great. Great use of dof. Good job on the duotone, I think it works well for this image. And an awesome title that in this case, really suits the image and adds to the presentation IMO. All in all, just wonderful. Nice job :-)
