 This is a close-up shot of a heavily back-lit leaf. I'm not sure of the name of the plant, but they are very big, about 4-6 ft. tall, with great big leaves like elephant ears and thick stalks. It is at the rose garden in Francis park in Lansing, MI. I held the leaf out directly between the sun and the camera. I thought it was kind of cool. I know there are probably several people who 'know' this image, but I put about all my stuff that I think is good at all in my portfolio. This photo has been well received by some folks here on the site, as well as most people who I have shown it to. It is definitely among the best pics I've taken this year IMO, so here it is and we'll see how it does :-)

I can't remember exactly what I did in post with this one, but knowing my normal work flow, I probably: cropped, usm, cloned out some small bad spots, maybe did a screen and/or overlay or multiply layer with the opacity dropped, levels adj, curves, resized and border.

This is great--vibrant lines and great colors. I love it as is, but I see a derivative that's worth looking at: take a look at it cropped at the right a bit, in fact, enough to make it square. Now it has the same flow as wave's, and the direction is uniform. Square shots make nice abstracts. (BTW, thanks for your comments on my shots!)

what an aweosome image - it immediately jumped off the page - the colors are great and vibrant - great use of the sun to backlight the leaf - just stunning - congrats on your top score :)

Hey, great shot, and congrats on your personal best score so far! The colours & lines are funky. If you stare at it for a while it moves, like one of those circle illusions.

Dude, you know my feelings on this. It's a tad too abstract for my taste. I understand why others like it but I just don't dig this kinda shot! Only voting cause it's the best of. Don't ask me what I gave ya.

Very good macro shot, well taken and cropped but I personally feel it is ugly ... haven't let that affect my score though :)

Nice line work here. The darkish 'grungy' (not to be confused with \"grunge\" style), coloring is definitely different. I'm not entirely keen on it, but it works here. The fibrous parts of the leaf almost look alive.. like capillaries. Which, by your title, is probably what you were going for.

Wow. This has got some really weird optical illusions going on here. Certain parts of this picture seem to move when I stare at other parts.
