Challenge: Backlighting II (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S5100
Location: Upsala, Ontario, Canada
Date: Jan 9, 2006
Aperture: F/5.7
ISO: 64
Shutter: 1/250 sec.
Galleries: Nature, Macro
Date Uploaded: Jan 10, 2006

I took this across the surface of fresh, undisturbed snow, shooting toward the sun (not quite directly) (I hope this qualifies as backlighting!). I was able to shoot so that the flakes were contrasted against the darker background of my firewood pile.

Shot in macro mode with +1, +2, & +4 closeup lenses stacked on.

Wow thats pretty, my only suggestion would be a tighter crop on the flakes this misty white on the bottom isnt working for me

The blue tinges on the tips of the snowflakes are just breathtaking. Another magic image in this challenge.

I love the snowflake shots. If it snowed here much I would shoot alot of this type stuff(well before I moved to a warmer area). This looks pretty good to me but I think if you cropped it even it would still meet the rule of 3rds. However this crop would be more marketable due to all the negative space on the right. I dont think I need to point out the sharpening artifacts along the bottom. Not much you can due under the rules-sharpen or dont. good luck and hope I vote on enough to not get thrown out ;)
