A really dusty, scratched and cheap glass chess set I picked up in a souvenir shop. I wish the quality of this shot would've been better, but I've already lost a whole night for a lousy 50th? place...

Gotta be optimistic though. Lighting setup was simple, two desk lamps, one pointed at the horsies, the other at the background on the left. Getting them to stop falling over was the hard part.

I hope people enjoy voting on this, I sure know I spent a lot of time on it. Cheers and thanks for all the fish.

P.S. Ah yes. Out of curiosity, I checked the date and time on the original RAW. It says 1/11/2006 6:26:14 AM. I immediately checked the camera, it showed 1/10/2006 23:56:01 PM which corresponds to the time on my PC. Figures that would happen to me after all that work. Oh well, if I get DQ'ed, at least I'll know what score I'd have gotten...

Interesting, indeed. I think it would be a more powerful composition if you moved the frame ever-so-slightly down and left to put the knights in a more eye-catching position. Very nice job!

I really like this photo, in that I like how you've highlighted the intricacies of the chess pieces, but I'm not to sure about the setup.

Great lighting here. I also love the ice blue color in the background.

I like this composition very much - it works especially well with the backlighting. It might look even better if the horizontal lines on the board matched up with the horizontal of the photo, and I'd not crop it quite so tight - include the bases of the knights in the foreground.

Cropped a little too much on the bottom I think.
