if you close one eye, this shot seems to pulse; all light is drawn up from the base of the shot into the path of the marble, the brightest spot. this alone makes it amazing.

Forgot to add this to my faves a long time ago. There's a superb, svelte, sleekness to this that I just love.

Now that I know what this is, I'm even more impressed.
This was my equal 2nd highest scoring shot - really pity that this didn't place

I love this shot still. It should have been the winner.

Thanks for the nice complement, but your shot was my first choice as well.

The 'bowl' is a bit distracting, my eye is not sure of its purpose here.... A very serene shot. I like the impression of speed in the light streak/beam. Nice.
(It would be interesting to know how this was acheived)

I have no idea how you did it, but that's an awesome shot and setup!

What a delight!

I cannot imagine another photograph that conveys so much within the narrow limits of this challenge. It is so searingly 'modern', it should render anyone's critical faculties obsolete...

The balance, especially top to bottom > black vs. lighted, is immaculaty 'tuned' as if dictated by the piece itself, as opposed to any rules derived from the outside... (in lieu of words). >10

Hmm. Too bad the subject wasn't higher up in the picture frame, with more of the foreground.
07/07/2003 02:24:43 PM
how did you compose this ??
07/07/2003 01:49:02 PM
a narrower crop would give this more impact.. interesting image non the less.
07/07/2003 01:30:11 PM
Very interesting shot
07/07/2003 11:41:48 AM
A very nicely done picture. I am unfamiliar with the subject though, so it is very hard for me to judge. Needs to ge more self explanitory. 4

exactly how is a shot like this made I'm guessing you have a pretty expensive set-up here
07/06/2003 08:44:17 PM
THis one is very good. Frosen light, this is actually a frosen light to me.
07/06/2003 03:43:30 PM
Wow! I love this shot! I love the use of the glass ball to give some depth.
07/05/2003 10:50:44 PM
Very spacey, Tron-like. Has a certain 3D feel to it. Wonderful lighting, nice void in the background. I also like that the spinning top has a certian ghost-ness to it (ie prefer this rather than sharp focus).

Fantastic.

What is the thing below the "bullet"? Looks like a bowl? Pretty interesting shot and does give a nice feel of speed.
07/04/2003 02:38:46 PM
Intriging...very aestetic
Could be a desktop wallpaper.

07/03/2003 03:41:19 PM
I like this photo, its kinda simple but thats OK. I'd be interusted in konwing more about it, like whats under the line?
07/03/2003 09:39:22 AM
Not sure exactly what it is but it is good. Very effective - 9.
07/03/2003 06:55:31 AM
I don't know how you've done this shot but it's wonderful. Great job. 9
07/03/2003 01:05:24 AM
a very nice composition (a pitty that the line is not exactly horizontal).
07/02/2003 08:37:06 PM
wow. love this one. very tranquil, yet i get the sense of speed.
07/02/2003 08:05:03 PM

This is just awesome. The lighting, background, focus... all awesome. This is a very unique idea and in my opinion, you pulled it off flawlessly. Very good job. 10

Really like this (top so far) and not the usual fayre. Nicely taken, slick design, and - you tried something different - hooray!! I'd hang this on my wall. ;-] [10]
07/02/2003 03:31:15 PM
Wish I knew how this was done ... kinda hard to judge it.
07/02/2003 03:29:05 PM
wOw, very interesting pic.

I love this shot. I don’t know what it is but its my highest rated photo. Beautiful lighting and overall composure. I gave it an eight and would have given it a higher score if I could figure out what it was but either way I love it and will add it to my favorites as soon as i can. If you could please e-mail me what it is and how it was done. I am a big fan of long exposure shots and guessing think its possibly a flashlight being moved. Not sure what the ball is under the light point though. Great Job hope you win.
07/02/2003 08:37:19 AM
different.. and I liked it.. (9)
07/02/2003 06:44:17 AM
I think you will probably be the winner. I haven't got a clue what I am looking at, but I cetainly like it. (10)
07/02/2003 05:49:12 AM
very nice effect
07/02/2003 02:30:05 AM
Can't wait to find out what this is. I sort of get "speed" out of it, but in a pretty abstract way. But I guess that's good enough. Definitely a slick looking shot.
07/02/2003 12:41:10 AM
This is going to be up there.
Wonderful lighting
07/02/2003 12:16:23 AM
wow, what is that?
