The inside of the Notre Dame Basilica in old Montreal. The entire basilica is beautiful, but the altar is especially so.

exposure compensation at +0.7step because I left my polarizer on while shooting inside Notre Dame (!!) and I didn't remember that, and so couldn't figure out why my shots were so horribly under exposed. Go figure!

Post processing includes a 2 degree rotation clockwise to fix my perspective somewhat, levels, brightness and contrast to bring out the colours, little bit of noise reduction to deal with the grain caused by the low light and faster film speed.

And then a gentle USM because this was HANDHELD!

I just came across this photo, love this as much as I do being a 5th generation Irishman/Roman Catholic. Thank you, done with elegance in mind.

I have shot many churches, but this capture is wonderful. I just want to see the top of the spire and arches.

Nice shot, I photographed this location quite heavily as well and sorry to say have some better results than this one. I had to sign my life away though when I was photographing inside. I was using a tripod and they considered that professional. I had to sign that i wouldnt use the image anywhere other then personal use??

This is a most stunning photo. I can't believe you did so well on hand held in that light ! Awesome job !

Congratulations on the good finish! This was one of my favourites. I thought you were in Vancouver though, and this is in Montreal, isn't it? It is, I just read your comments above. Anyway, beautiful picture.

Thanks, precious. I had better shots of this, but they were outside the timeline for this challenge. Ahh, well, I'll hopefully get them worked up and put in my portfolio!

And all I do is follow you around..its me who tries to keep up.

A nice shot of an amazing place. Would a portait framing have helped emphasise the shape more though? The pinnacle is quite important as a feature - maybe mor euseful than the outer spread. [6]

Those colors! Wow! Almost too many details here as they compete with one another, but that's a chapel for you!

Gorgeous. The lighting - the way the whole picture glows without washing out any part of it.... The composition. If I could quantify what I liked about that, I would, but...very well done.

Exceptional capture of a tremendous amount of detail. I love the colors - this is one of my favorite places in Montreal and I think you've done such a beautiful job of capturing it. I love everything about this shot. 10

Nice photo. Great colors and very good architecture. Its a little bit busy, but like you could help that? This is one of those photos that NEEDS to be a lot bigger to really appreciate this. There is so much lost detail.

Great colors - there's so much going on here, I find it's hard to focus on any one thing - which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I think more of a portrait orientation might make it possible to keep the top of the spire (?) in the shot and at the same time get rid of the arch in the upper left.

this would have been a better shot had the cross at the top not been left out.

This has a very nice composition and colour, but I have to say that the focus needs a bit of work on, I would have removed the candlestick in the left hand corner. this almost looks like a model.

Beautiful - is the blue the natural colour or did you create it by using the 'wrong' white balance?
