This is simple. The first problem to solve is to the a decent pivot on the knife, otherwise the streaks will not be aligned and correct. You drill a hole on the handle and place a screw. Then you place knife in ending position, that is, knife down. You then set up exposure to handle two flashes, the down and the up. You set for time exposure, 6 secs here. I used a 500 watt hallogen lit all the time.

Knife is down you trigger the flash (Strobe) you then swivel the knife to the up position and press the next flash. Finished.

Congratulations on another excellent shot, Daniel. Once again I used the word clever in commenting on your work but this time about the title. :) I might as well use the other word I always feel when I see your work. Amazing

You remind me of my 7th grade science teacher. He would always keep us captivated with fascinating scientific experiments. He would tell us the result and make us try to figure out how he did it. I see your pictures in the challenges and try to guess your technique. I am always amused by your pictures.

You must be pretty good at that if you can chop the orange in half with your knife in a starting position like that :P, very good picture though.

Awesome motion in the knife you've caught. Great detail on the citrus. It appears that the orange might have been pre cut? I would think there would be motion on it as well....so I guess you started the knife motion down and went up? Not sure. Quite intriguing....would like to read about it after.

The drops on the knife is a nice touch, however the shadow on the orange is a bit distracting

Great photo! Your discipline and technical skills are obvious. Great results! It's coo; to see how the water droplets moved during the swing. The title, however......
