You might recognize her, took the risk because this shot was too good to miss. Tossed my awesome landscape shot to enter this in the Free Study. My stepdaughter, and I caught her pulling "the pout" wich is cute as hell and terribly effective because of it.

Rotate, a little levels to brighten, selective desat to bring attention only to her expression and eyes, neatimage, bitty clone to remove a glint of shiny hair, a touch up around the upper lip area (some playground dirt and shes a hairy little monkey), a little burn to mute distracting highlight in the background, a little selective gaus. blur to eliminate blotchy skin tones, size for web, sharpen. Last minute edit of Softglow filter (GIMP).

Darling girl. The way her hat sits on her head and the color of her eyes is what makes this photo great for me. Good luck in the challenge.

This is an image that is good for the family album. Although as a portrat or snap, it doesn't do much, it lacks a buzz, technically it looks fine, but it lacks some umph. Maybe if she stuck out her tongue, all in all a little grey.

A very good shot and very different departure from the typical smiling child. I like that you chose to show a different emotion here. And boy, have I seen that pout on my own kids and even though it tugs on the heartstrings they DON'T always get what they want. Now back to the image, I have two critiques on this shot. One there is too much background in this shot and it serves to take attention & focus away from the main subject which is that pouting face. A tight crop specifically framing the head only would capture and keep our attention where it needs to be. Second, I really think that this shot would be better in B&W just to add a classic portrature look to it.
