This was taken with my brother's camera (as I still have to replace my Nikon D70). For the lens, I used my macro lens...60 mm f2.8. I always have success in portraits with this lens.

I'm new to this place, but have become a fan of your portrait work. This is a stunning shot. My only wish would be to see a little more of her hand and wrist. The way it is cropped, her hand seems a bit dislocated from her body. It could be another person's hand pulling her veil across. Otherwise, WOW!

I totally agree! The ones here are only from envy!

Very delicate, very detailed. The girl looks so young and fragile. Without the ring one would guess she is 11 or 12 years old, but the ring gives her age away. The desaturation of the scarf on the right is unnatural but here it works into the total image somehow, I like it. Excellent work Manny, I could learn a lot from you.

Congrats on 5th, Manny! Who'd have guessed a portrait of an hooded, exotic girl would do so well?? LOL

Im a fan of your portraits but the pose didnt do much for me for some reason. The lighting, color saturation as usual are spot on, but the focus on the eyes seems a little strange. The headdress is really pretty and adds visual interest to the photograph.

Anyway, you placed really high with it. Congrats!

The white of the eyes are a little too white for my taste. Otherwise, terrific photo.

Gee, I wonder whose exquisite portrait this could be? Hmm... great expression, composition, detail, color... I just don't know. If only there were some colored pencils in there, I might have a clue. Nothing to ciriticize, so it gets the usual 10. ;-)

This is one of the best in this challenge, very well done, mayge the white in the eyes is a little bit too bright. Well done!

very nice lighting, although the whites of her eye look unnatural

A very beautiful girl and well taken photo. I really wish it wasn't the style to chop off the tops of heads in portraits. To me they look incomplete.

I enjoyed this very much at DIC...and it is excellent, Manny! Love the shy facade on Jooi and as you pointed out the great textures and jewelry. But if you got a 'Great Shot' comment from Lou Hartman, I know it's got to be a 10!

this is very exotic. i am easily drawn into her strong eyes, even with all of the designs on the cloth. The colors are bold, yet subtle. great job.

Hypnotic, lovely and so coy. A capture reminiscent of the famous Librodo. Bumping up.

Whilst the tonality and all that jazz is, no doubt, exemplary ... and whilst, were I taking someone's portrait, this kind of detailing and care of exposure would be what I'd hope for, I can't say I'm all that bothered about this shot. Great portrait - but I get nothing more from it.

Nice toning. Placement of eyes is a little odd, I can't tell you what will work better, but this sure isn't working for me... also eyes are dodged too much to lose details.. ..hands dont' seem to go well with her face somehow..

Nicely done. I like her shy gaze and the detail of her head covering. It isn't over processed either. I like the blue to the left of her, but wish it were solid and not mottled. It kind of takes away, since the busy design on her scarf has enough detail on its own. Great eyes!! 8

this is a nice shot as far as composition goes, but lately there are just too many shots of women with that "head dress/wrap" on them

Great colors and textures, classic Librodo type picture. The steely eyes are just a little to sharp for me, I would have liked them a little softer, but no points off for that! This one will score well. Nice job.

Beautiful photo, but to be honest, I've seen this kind of photo too many times to be excited about it. It really is very well done, though. If this is the first time you've done such a photo, then I must say you've really done a great job.

this si really good. i love the jewlery and the look and the bringing the veil to her lips... if only tehre was a bit more golden or yellow it would be perfecto. i woudl still give ti a high score as it is though

hmm once again wonderful shot... however how many times can a dark-eyed girl with a shawl win a challenge? ... something new would maybe do more for me. Still a great shot of course.

Excellent portrait. Rich colors from the blue background to orange scarf, and then into her face. The gesture with the had suggests she is pulling the scarf up, perhaps because she is she... wornderful!

Wonderful bold hues pictured here in this portrait photo. I love how the girl is bringing the shawl to her lips. It is a captured action of shyness at the same time she levels this intense gaze at us that holds and arrests us. Very good shot that I could very well see appearing next to a story in National Geographic.

Wonderful portrait! One thing that bothers me, and it may be the actual scarf, but the color is significantly different on the left side vs. the right side. Just something to think about in the future... bumping up.

Great shot Manny, the costume really seals the deal here. It's wonderful. Few small details I like are her thumbnail, the color behind her, and the silver jewelry on her forehead. Beautiful.
