I saw this sunset as I was getting ready to make dinner, I grabbed my camera and a coat and told my husband I had to go. After about 10 min and freezing fingers with the sun finally gone I went home.

Ok, I dont have all the exact steps, I cant figure out a history cue in Gimp so here is the best I can remember. It was actually alot of editing for me.

I started out by sharpening and blurring alternatly, I probably did that about 10 times! Then I did an Unsharp Mask and some Selective Gaussian Blurring. Adjusted the contrast and saturation. Adjusted levels some more sharpening and blurring and then some more levels and another Gaussian Blur. Actually spent alot of time on the editing but didnt use any sort of masks as I dont know how to use it yet. I dont even know if I could reproduce this. Im not even sure how it got the darker corners! It has its problems, the sticks on the right side seem overly sharpened to me and so do some of the mountains but I hope its ok.

I thought it might look over processed but my husband loved it so I went with it. Hope you all like it to.

Ohhh...i love the colors in this. I must of missed this shot during voting...I love it. The violets and blues are amazing...and compliment the browns very nicely.

Congratulations on breaking into the +6 score range from a fellow R707 user! Great capture and colours in this one. Don't you just love it when you can actually catch that moment the way you knew you could?

I like the flowing composition. I like the colors but I fell that the blues are a tad oversaturated.

This almost has a plastic sense to it. Neat image perhaps? I like it though. Looks almost like a watercolor painting. The huges from blue to purple are stunning. I like the texture of the dry grass peeking through the snow. Nice~~ 7

8 - Very nice. Not sure if those colors are natural or 'tweaked' but very nice coloring too, the blues and the reds/pinks. Criticism; I'm sure this looks excellent wall size with this crop (vertical), and also looks good here/this medium, but an even 'wider' view (640 x 640), especially for 'here', may have given this even more 'punch', not sure. Maybe some type of further detail or 'texture capture' right at the fore, but likely very difficult to do that and still retain the equal 'balanced focus' you have achieved so - who knows. Very nice.

The composition and color is fantastic. However, the image looks oversmooth to me and there is banding in the sky. This really detracts from the image for me.

the colors here are goegeous! I thought that it might be neatimage but being from arizona I should guess that snow really is that smooth looking. maybe a bit over sharpened but you can only see it in the foreground twigs. seeing that this is advanced editing I would have gone back with my history brush over those areas haloed with the effect... still an awesome image. 9 for now
