Although I wasn't around to vote for this one, I have to say.. it's really a great shot!
Although I can't help thinking it would be a LITTLE bit better if the guy had been on fire. |

Critique Club
This is a very good shot. The fog compliments the entire setting very well. There is only one thing that distracts from the entire photo and that what I beleive is sheet music laid out just behind the mic stand in the photo. It is such a very light spot in the entire photo that it pulls your eyes away from the singer and to the big light patch.
Overall it is very appealing and well deserving of the 2nd place. Nicely done and Congrats.

Ben,
The more I look at this image the more I appreciate it. You did a good job of saving the details of a photograph with narrow contrasts. Congratulations on the ribbon and a congrats on a great photograph. Keep up the good work. - I gave you a 9, this was one of my favorites for the week - ( PS - I remember the outstanding job you did on the castle photograph that won the blue ribbon. )

| I like how the lighting is falling on your subject. Spotlights are a good thing. With the lighting and the fog, it feels sorta ethereal, but the expression on his face is very mischevious. |

This photo is absolutely the best one in this challenge. I love all the smoke and the vocalist is pretty cute too. :) If this one doesn't win first place... you were robbed!!!

| I really like the lighting in this, and how we can see the smoke clearly. The way that the light falls on his face is great. I also like the highlights in his hair. I wonder how it would look with a bit more cropped of the left side? Also, we can just barely see a guy in the background, we can't see him enough to consider him an important part of the pic, but he's definately there. I wouldn't consider him a distraction, but definately an observation. Very nice with the lighting available. ~Heather~ |
