That's me and my banjo I never learned how to play. I live in the country, and this is just what I do. I lay around with a banjo on my belly!

Oh this is great. Sepia is the ONLY filter for this one. Great soft focus. Placement of figurein the shot is perfect. Good one.

Just discovered this pic. It's wonderful! Being from the South, and knowing all about banjo pickin' country life, I can't help but keep smiling. Loved your comment too.

Wow, I didn't realize this was a ribbon winner 'til yesterday. I'll have to check the forums about what happened. Thanks for the votes; I sure admire a lot of your shots, too. Keep up the good work!

A few of you didn't like my border, but I really tried many borders, and most of mine are very simple. This one looked by far the best to me. Thanks for your comments. This was a fun shot to take!

Trying to look relaxed but that hand is ruining your impression left, you look like strugling to keep that instrument in a certain presentational possition. 8

This is such a classic photo of the south in the summertime. I would have given this a 10 except for the border, its rather distracting.

This is a really neat photo... I love the 'laid back' theme of rural life and living in the country. The banjo adds a lot here for me as well. I can almost hear the birds chirping and the babbling brook... the sounds that this photo seem to pronounce make it work nicely... excellent work :)

Its a good shot but it just looks too set up and staged for my liking

A very nice shot. I'm not sure if I like the border. It almost makes it a little too "dreamy." But I won't take off for that. I think the picture would have been stronger without the border though. Aside from that, the shot has a good balance and nice shapes. Good job.

I really like it! The sepia tone is perfect, and your idea is very unique and interesting. Great composition and lighting, very well done.

Well conceived shot. I really like how the subject pops out against the background. Only nit-pick is the bright spot on the bridge on the right.

mm.. too artificial.. it would be better to see somebody playing that instrument..

This is a beautiful shot - a work of art. The setup you've done, down to the banjo and the rolled up jeans and bare feet is all great. The slight sepia tone really enhances it, also. I'm not sure that the border is necessary, but it's not a problem - I just think the image stands as well on its own. 10

Wow. great photo. Nothing I can suggest to improve it...the border however...You should either add a normal border or feather it all the way in. As it is now, it looks messy with the feathering and the line. Still a 10 from me though, as I don't mark down for borders. I usually only add points for a really nice original border, which I think you were trying for, but it doesn't work for me. Luckily, you don't need that extra point anyway! Great job and good luck.

Nice pic! Good composition and color tone. Great job! Critique: I would have had the banjo supported somewhere (he appears to be resting/sleeping while supporting the banjo, you would think it would fall).

Great! I bet it would be fabulous in color as well. Only one minor issue for me ... the border feels a little too "dreamy" ... the photo evokes that all on its own and it feels like slight overkill on the mood. 9
