I never commented on this but it's fantastic, and touching. I think in advanced editing, this could have won, perhaps by deemphasizing the pole in the background and the colorful objects in the upper right.

By the way, this touched me and I gave it a 10! If you are still in Iraq, I wish you well, and if it's not your home, most of all, a safe return to your home.

As a thumbnail I thought I was looking at blueberries. Then I saw the Garbage challenge followed by your incredible photo subject. It is so difficult to decide what to accept as unpublished or sanitized images coming from Irak here in Canada. Nobody want's to be stuck in what I describe in your photo as the dry mud. War horror is implied by your damaged "fruits". I think that color is important due to blue also meaning sad when hardship strikes and a style of song that reveals or heals inner pain. It is also UN cap identifying ultimate goal of peace. Great photo. Thanks for sharing,

Great image. Stay safe...and get some Pulitzer prize winners while you're there.

Many levels of meaning. I like the partial desaturation

Wow. I think this is what they mean about "a picture says a thousand words." Good luck.

Very interesting and unique phot, the subtle colours bring out the interest of the natural pattern of the helmuts and makes me take extra time looking at this picture, very subtle and very pleasing to me. Good luck hope you do well in this challenge.

Very powerful image. Technically very good, too. Could be a contender for a ribbon.

would have made a better B&W

Very powerfull story here. Composition is great. I especially like the bullet hole in the helmet; frightening.
It would have been more powerfull if the sun wasn't shinning in the background; it kind of add some warmth that doesn't serve the purpose here. Another angle or an overcast day would have made this picture perfect.
