Very nice picture but of poor quality. My guess is that the original is very black (maybe 3 to 4 stops underexposed) and you adjusted it so much that it's visible that you did. Sharpening at this point is, like people commented, a bad idea. The shot should have been made with the shutter open longer than you used now. By doing so it would have qualified better for the challenge (wich is shutter speed).

Would be nice to see wich shutter speed you used on this (considering it is the shutter speed competition).

You got a good rating just because the picture in itself is gorgeous, my compliments on that!

Great colors and timing. There are some unfortunate oversharpening artifacts visible around the edges of the birds.

Excellent light. I think a tighter crop from the top would help get the attention to the bird in motion better. Great timing :)

Very nice...maybe just a little more exposure on the moving bird's face...I like the static bird in the water. He holds the picture together and gives the moving bird "more life" IMO. 7

I love the mixture of blur and sharpness amidst the birds. Great stop action. The beautiful deep melon color of the water is a great backdro to the gray tones of the birds. NICE!! 8
