Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Shutter Speed (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Lens: Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III
Location: In front of my house
Date: Oct 29, 2005
Aperture: f11
ISO: 100
Shutter: 30'
Galleries: Digital Art, Transportation
Date Uploaded: Oct 30, 2005

I set up a tripod on my front porch. My son drove down the road across the dam with just his running lights on and swerved back and forth while I had the camera on a 30 sec shutter speed, manual focus, 100 ISO, f11. I would say go and he would start driving and swerving. I clicked the shutter, went inside, grabbed a beer, filed my nails, then came back outside to hear the shutter click closed. Another car came along right at the end adding the additional red and yellow lighting.

This is pretty much out of the camera, resized, bumped up the reds and yellow in curves and minor goofing around with sat levels.

After Challenge: WOW! I've been in shock and smiling since this challenge closed! For me to break the top 20, achieve my personal best score and most comments is just the boost I needed. Thanks DPC'ers, for your votes and comments!

Great play with lights. So even and spaced just floating in the air. Nicely done.

7 - Good idea. Criticism; difficult, but perhaps a tighter cropping, especially fore, and possibly right. Perhaps a touch more 'vivid' too, not sure.

I really like this effect, did you instruct someone to weave about the street? Nice how you see the brake lights ending before the bend starts. Maybe without them it would even have been more appealing...

When doing a trail of taillights, it is not easy to get a dramatic photo effect. This one has it. Also, it could lose the bottom completely, it serves no purpose whatsoever. If cropped up to the bottom of the road, could have been even better.
