Challenge: Image Grain (Advanced Editing IV*)
Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S7000
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Date: Oct 23, 2005
Aperture: f/ 2.9
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/21 sec.
Galleries: Still Life, Floral
Date Uploaded: Oct 23, 2005

Shot this dark and kept it sort of dark. Got a work think going on and its pretty much how I feel right about now. Not sure about working with noise since I have to all the time with the Fuji from low light pics. Think this could be noisier and bash you over the head with noise but higher levels ruined the mood for me. Like this subtler version of the 5 I tried the best.

Post: Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast. Layer adjustment for hue/saturation: colorize to sepia. New adjustment layer for levels to darken a bit. USM. Add noise, gaussian 10%, Crop. Resize. USM. Add noise, gaussian 2.03%.

This is a perfect image to add the grain to. It so looks like it belongs, and it enhances this photo really well. I love the composition, and your use of sepia for this. You did really well on this! I love it.

this image would be sooooooooo great, but the color noise was a major- No,No.....
i think u should've added grain instead of noise to this and it would be a winner in my book, as it is it gets a far lower score than i would have dubed it, b/c of that wrong move in edit.

(the sepia was the right was to go tho.... :O) thumbs up on that, gives u another point back)

There's a nice harmony and dynamic between the two elements of this image that moves your eye constantly from one to the other. The strong grain adds interest. Nice.

This low-key image is very good..nicely composed and unusual subject; the grain suits it well...the sepia is an excellent choice.

NICE use of grain with flowers!! definitely appropriate, and a nice image! I can't decide whether I would have liked another angle or not... but this works I think... good lighting, and good job. Good luck! -9-
