Wow - I was just looking at your Profile and leafing through your Portfolio. You have some AMAZING work! This is certainly one of them - and my newest Favorite! FANTASTIC DOF, lighting, crop, composition, you-name-it...

Belated congrats on the ribbon, but congrats nonetheless on a stunning image.

May 2003? Well before my time here.
I never really studied this shot, and am amazed at the quality of the lighting and composition, especially from a 1.3MP camera!

This is worthy of a ribbon....even a blue ribbon! This is by far one of the best interior shots I've seen on here in a long time. Your exposure is perfect all the way around. You have detail in your deepest shadows under the second run of the stair, your pillar that your statue stands on has some detail (probably more had this been a bigger image) and your highlights are perfect. I'm jealous!
Do you do this professionally? If not, you might consider it. I've worked closely with interior photographers and I know when I setup a shot this one shot would take well over 1.5 hours to set up with the right light. You did amazing.

Congratulations on a well-deserved ribbon! If it were my shot I'd make the club an 8x10 photographic print (maybe back in the original orientation), and maybe an inkjet of the results page. They will probably put it in their newsletter and you can double-dip for brownie points ... and maybe a freelance job.

Very nice lighting/exposure. This shot definitely fit the challenge better than most. I'm personally not all that interested in the subject, but I can totally imagine it being on the cover of an architecture mag so I had to score it high. Very nice, clean work. Congrats!

By the way, the new camera is way cool and I'm quite jealous.

The lines and lighting work well together here to provide an ultimate example that would indeed grace the cover of this magazine.

Classic shot. This picture embodies what this magazine would want. Clean lines, nice curve and contrast of wood grain against the soft white create a high quality professional looking shot. The door on the right is a little distracting, but can't be delt with with current editing rules. Great work! 9 -danny

Nice shot. I can definitely see this on the cover. A tiny bit grainy though. Of course, for ACTUAL cover shots they'd probably use medium format :) 9.

This is a great shot! I love the clean and simple feel about it. The composition isn't bad, but I find the entrance way frame on the left slightly distracting and draws attention away from the staircase. If you hold up a piece of blank paper to cover up the frame you'll see the difference. 8.

I think the curve of the doorway mirroring the curve of the stairway is elegant. Excellent tonality for such a generally high-key shot.

This is an amazing-looking home, if it's yours I'm very jealous.

Also, I can EASILY see this gracing a home design magazine. Even though there's very little in the way of decor it's the sort of clean, simple lines such publications seem to favor for shots like this. It's very crisp and clear, well-lit and cheerful. There's room for copy and logo.

Wow very pretty, if this is your house, this is really cool, congrats! I think this would do nicely as a cover of a magazine... I'm not sure about the border, I'm not big on borders, and I don't think most magazine covers have borders, but it's not too big of a deal. This is a plain simple nice looking photo that fits the challenge. Good job.

Nice shot! Could have used a plethora of titles for this one. Good natural lighting, awesome composition. I would have put a bit more or a bit less of that archway on the left. 9

Oh how I wish my house looked like this! First impressions are that it's a clean image (and clean staircase), and very classy-looking. The curve of the staircase is appealing to the eye and something that isnt common and so it gives a sense of interest. It would certainly be a cover I'd expect to see on Home and Design and it would encourage me to read the accompanying article. The only negative is something petty, but I find the whiteness of the border makes the white in the photograph to appear somewhat duller, which is a shame because otherwise the feel is a bright, airy room.

I like the photo. lighting seems to be good. One thing I did notice which was miner was the angle of the shot. It is not vertically straight. Even with that, I still like it.
