Well I must've taken 50 shots of this in my garage. This is a ringwrath figurine from LOTR movie of course! I put him on a box covered with black cloth. Put up a blue cloth behind him. Put a small lamp behind him below the box for the glow effect and silhouette. Cut shrub pieces from front of my house and layered the box.

Oooooh, Wow! This is awesome! I'm just now getting caught up from being on vacation for a while! Great job, Jason!!! I love it. (I think it should have scored much higher too)

Greetings from the Critique Club :-)

Initial impression
LOTR, even without seeing the title! You've certainly captured the feeling of Middle Earth.

Composition
Good composition, works with the figurine and lighting, though if you'd created a kind of 'riding through the forest' scene with a few of the branches stood up in a V on the sides of the image the figurine would have stood out less as a toy...more of a fleeting glimpse of the idea.

Camera technique/editing
This shot was well set up, well thought out. I do feel that although you've got beautiful shades of blue, the lighting appears a little flat (static), also seems to be a slightly soft focus on the edges of the figurine and branches. Image is only 85kbs, if you use the full 150 kbs you do tend to get a better quality image.

Meets the challenge
Certainly meets the challenge, immediate thoughts are of Middle Earth. Good creative idea, well thought out. Unfortunately toys never seem to score well in dpc challenges though.

Personal opinion
*Gasp* though I'm a kiwi I've never seen LOTR or any of the sequels. I avidly lived the books as I read them, they left a lasting impression on my mind. Your shot brought back a load of great memories. Thankyou :)

This looks too much like toy. I like the grasp of theme and the idea of the sillohouette.
