The trouble here was getting that darn fish to pose! No really!

For those of you outside the U.S., "Got Milk" is a famous ad campaign that currently runs in magazines, featuring celebrities with milk moustaches.

Here's how I took the picture. It's pretty straightforward. First, I went to the store and bought a trout and then cut off its head (we ate the trout that night for dinner). I found this lure in my tackle box and attached it to the fish head. I quickly realized that the fish head was not heavy enough; the line kept pulling the head in weird ways out of the bowl. I finally contrived a mechanism whereby I stuck a large screw into the back of the fish head, attached the screw to a piece of scrap metal, then taped the scrap metal to the bowl. I then had to tie the line to something so I could work on getting a splash, which I did by blowing through a straw at the right moment. I found that adding Cheerios made for a nice atmosphere. I also took Jacko's advice and used cream instead of milk (thanks, Jacko!). Needless to say, this photo took way too long to get right! But it sure was fun to see my kids as they winced and said, "OOOOOOH GROSS!"

Next time I'll use half and half instead of cream. It will look thinner, but still manage to coat the objects in questions with a white film--something milk would not do.

Wow,

Reading the comments about how this was done makes me appreciate the shot even more. Great commitment to work so hard on a pic. This was my favourite this week.

Very Cool Shot. Wow you sure got inventive here. Cream eh? I new it looked a little thicker. I'll have to remember that one.

I love this idea. The only issue I see is the blur. I'm thinking that's the DOF setting since it's only in the outter bottom area. This is just too cute ! I love it.

that picture is so funny! the only critic I may have would be that liquid isn't the maine subject of the picture. good luck

What an AMAZINGLY unexpected subject! That's worth a point right there.

Not the most... visually appealing thing, but it's interesting, a good joke photo. I like how the milk is swirling over the mouth of the fish and the way it looks as if it is just now being pulled out, which seems to be the case as I've just spotted the fishing line (hard to see, of course). With the neutrality and the coolth of the majority of the colours, the bright fishing lure is a bit jarring, though I guess they don't come in non-bright colours exactly.

Fun! Unique! You get alot of action into this shot - is it real or an illusion? Milk or whipped egg whites? Either way a succesful photo. 9

Nice shot I had a good laugh! I will be interested to see who this belongs to..... I have my suspicions!

OMG! I may never eat cheerios again! LOL
This is a very strange image. I am trying to figure out the thought process that brought you to this idea.
Photographically speaking, the composition is good. The lighting is a bit dim and flat. The stop action is neat.

Very disturbing. Very unsettling. Very...good. Extremely good.

The work of an artist. I like it a lot - good luck with this one, I think it's got potential ribbon quality, as long as not too many people are put off by it! Excellent movement in the milk. 9

Oh...what a way to ruin a good bowl of Cheerios!! No, I love your humorous and uniquie take on the challenge. I applaude you. I like how you had milk dripping off the hook like you had just gotten it out of the "water". This is my favorite so far. I really do hope this gets you a ribbon. 10
