Taken of an old barn on the property where my father grew up. I called it "Fawning Barn" because the FedEx deliveryman (who frequently delivers packages from Longaberger to my mother) swears we have a deer farm and that we're raising white-tailed deer (no matter how much we try to tell him differently). We have an overabundance of them in the area, that's for sure, and on more than one occasion this barn has served as a nursery for newborn fawns.

UPDATE: I cleaned up the selective desat edges (I originally did this before I really knew what I was doing) and straightened the horizon a tad too. Thanks for the comments - I think these little changes are an improvement already!

Since Jimmy didn't clarify I will. A calving barn is where baby calves are born, of course. This title is a pun started by the local UPS man because there are so many baby deer, fawns, hanging out on the Carter property this year! Seems as if the clan might have set up a birthing barn in this old building! Loveya Jimmy, MMM

the texture here is really nice. I like your selective coloring choice. Maybe if you had some sun ,you could of went black and white. Good stuff. I think photos like this interest me the most, as well as architecture.

I really like the desat work in this shot. The remaining color is so subtle it really keeps you focused on the subject. The detail in the texture of the siding is excellent. Makes you draw back for fear of a splinter. My only criticism would be the crop - perhaps place the building slightly off center to one side or the other. Well done!

This shot is probably one of my fav's from your portfolio carter. My husband and I just love old buildings and the oldtime photograph feeling of this image. Your selective desaturation looks perfect on my monitor love the coloring at the apex and roof of the "fawning barn" I would love a print of this if you are going to upload it for prints please let me know.

I very much like what you did with the colours, it is different from what I've seen thus far. How did you do it? The composition is effective and the sides of the barn are very well lined up, with the front corner 'sticking out'.

As a general rule I dislike the selective desat look, but this is really nice work! Good job.

Oh this is neat. I like the semi-desat. You know how much I love old buildings. The wood has such great character. Really nice shot.

Greetings! First, what is a Fawning Barn?

Second, I like the concept of 1/2 b&W, 1/2 color but you left some color, to me, in strange places and the color that is there doesn't stand out very much against the b&w part. On the back left corner of the barn you can still see the gree of the trees and grass, a bit distracting, but just a touch. On the barn itself, there is so little color left it almost blends into the background, maybe if you reversed the switch, left the trees and grass green and only did the barn b&w?

Also, while I know the building is leaning a bit on it's own, the overall picture seems slightly tilted to the left, maybe a very slight rotation to the right to balance it out?

Hope this helps!

Another cool subject. I like the tone in this one. Might be interesting to try the tone from the face of the barn throughout the whole image. Like doing a tri-tone maybe. Very nice.

really cool old building. I think a little bit of the greens/yellows left might add something, but I like it as is.

See - I have the same image! Well, not quite. But almost! I like the subtleness of the color but I wish oyu had left just a hint of green and/or yellow in the trees and grass. Really like the angle.

Very nice selective desat Jimmy! I like the colors of the barn and the textures as well. The sky is blown out. Can you burn it? Or was it just a gloomy day so you decided to do a desat? By the way, you forgot that bit of green by the left roof edge :) Great image!
