I don't think that the grass in the forground adds much to this image. I would crop this just below the bushes and bring the visual focus up to the house and yard more.
You titled this tractor, but I don't feel like the main focus is the tractor. Actually, had the main focus been the tractor, I think that it would have taken away from the meeting of the challenge.
Anyway, the soft focus just doesn't work for me. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I think here I'd rather see the detail of your home and surroundings.
The clothes on the line are a nice touch, and I like the wooden sunflower decoration in the garden. This is a really Homey environment that screams Home Sweet Home.
The angle you took this at is nice. It shows a lot of your home and suroundings. The house appears to be leaning just a notch or 2 to the left, but nothing serious.
Great interpretation of the challenge.

I thought for sure this would do better. This is one of my favorites.

something here seems out of focus, but there seems to be so much like that, I can't tell if anything actually is in focus.

I like the diffused soft focus. Perhaps there is too much open grass in the front but there are enough object in the fore and background to add good depth.

Beautiful shot, maybe crop the bottom a little bit (even up to the row of bushes) as the field doesn't add anything to the shot.

This image is very artistic in its composition. In this instance the blur/overlay-style effects applied enhance rather than detract from its appeal. Love it - very 'Darling Buds'.

The image appears to be slightly overexposed. To get a better angle on the tractors I would have tried a different vantage point.

I like the supersaturated treatment for this shot. Very homey feel.

This is nice. I like the filter.

nice painting. was this done with a filter?

the soft lighting looks cool..the clothes hanging-up looks as if it's telling a story

Nice depiction of home country life. I just find it to be overexposed and focus a bit soft.

Good candidate for duotone or grayscale. Nice job.

This photo says "Home Sweet Home" is every way possible....right down to the clothes hanging on the line. The detail is wonderful as are the colors. Composition is very eye catching and very nicely put together.

I really love this photo, the subject and the composition. But, there's something about the focus that makes me strain to view it.

Interesting effect, it seems almost hand colored.
05/30/2003 12:31:36 AM
This is the winner.

5. Fits the theme well enough, and there are no blatant 'you suck!' flaws to it, but neither does it really grab me for any reason at all. For reasons of composition, cropping, or subject choice, it's just a photo, and doesn't do especially much for me, aesthetically.

Nothing is lit or focussed to draw the eye, except maybe the puddle in front. The overall 'vaseline-on-the-lens' look encourages the overall feel of sameness, rather than pulling your attention where the photographer wants it.

Fits my definition quite well.

this is really good. almost looks like it was shot through a diffuser

What a very nice picture. The clothes on the line adds a very homey feeling.
Looks like a place I would like to live. 10 from me.

There is a tad too much brightness or contrast here. The whites are pushed too bright. Otherwise this has a nice feel...

It looks like you used a slight blur tool on this...? I like the effect -- it has a nice, dreamy, nostalgic feel to it. Nice!

Looks like the shot is tilting a bit to the right. Great shot though, good job!

I like your use of 'extreme effect" of contrast or sharp-- not sure which. But would have cropped a little more of foeground.
