Congrats on the ribbon. Very deserving. This type of shot takes quite a bit of effort to execute I imagine. I cannot even fathom how you set this up, I have to be honest. Would you please fill us in on the details. I am sure others would love to learn from this as much as myself.

Regards,

Owen

Have no Idea how you set this up, but its a 10!!!!
06/07/2003 04:58:49 PM
My only 10 this week. This should win. If not, it should place. If not.. then I can't help them .. LOL

It gives a huge feeling of power you applied the concept of making me feel the sound from looking at the picture, but this one could have been giving more mood by adjusting B/C and using blue lighting. that's my opinion :) - 9

Sounds everywhere. 8 Morgan

Good idea! like the glass 9pt

Not very original idea yet excellent realisation!

Good execution of a great concept. I'd give it a 10 if it weren't for a few minor flaws. It appears a bit oversharpened, as I can see some pixelization on the top rim of the glass in the upper right corner. A different colored background might have made for a nicer contrast against the black rim of the speaker. Otherwise a great shot. (9.5)

Great capture. Reminds me of the old "Is it live, or is it memorex" commercials.
06/04/2003 02:05:27 PM
WHOA! Did the sound really cause that?! Or did you throw something at it? Lumbardh? Sound trigger? Nice shot 9
06/04/2003 01:58:58 PM
wonder if it was really caused by the sub, i was under the impression glass only shatters at high frequencies
06/04/2003 12:14:31 PM
How many glasses did you break while trying to shot this ??? :-)
06/03/2003 06:17:39 PM
How the heck did you manage that? I'm assuming you threw something at the glass? Very cool! A definite ribbon winner.
06/03/2003 05:19:47 PM

Very cool! my 3rd favorite.
06/03/2003 12:19:24 AM
Very cool. What did you use to break the glass? I really gotta look into this method more. :) Great job, 9.
06/02/2003 07:09:35 PM
WOW. It must have taken many many shots to achieve this.....I can almost hear it.
06/02/2003 04:11:15 PM
Do I want to know how many glasses you broke shooting this? I'm curious if the method of breaking really was sound -- I presume the thing on the left is part of a speaker although it's hard to tell absent larger context (I had to think about whether an uncovered speaker would look like that). What are the bubbles (or bubble-like artifacts) throughout? Those are somewhat distracting, but I have no idea if they're unavoidable.

Great concept, it would be interesting to know how it was achieved! The glass is superb, as are the shattering fragments. It's perhaps a little too grainy for my taste here though. 9

10 for concept, 8 for execution: 9 overall. :-> I hear the photo (which is my major grading criteria for this contest), and it's an appealing image overall. The little teeny flecks of glass all over the image make me feel like I need to wipe my monitor (though I know there's not much you could do about that).

Having the loudspeaker in focus would have had more impact for me. I shall be interested to see how it was done!

i was thinking of doing something like this but i have so few glasses i couldn't afford to break one. really nice execution on this. at first i didnt like the blur on the speaker but the more i thought about it i decided that it conveys it shaking. well done.
