Challenge: Sound (Classic Editing)
Camera: Nikon Coolpix 995
Location: Somers, Montana
Date: May 26, 2003
Aperture: f3.3
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/129.3
Galleries: Portraiture
Date Uploaded: May 26, 2003

Levels adjusted to achieve high-key effect and converted to black and white using the channel mixer. This shot was cropped - something I almost never do, tryng to get it right 'in camera' the first time, but I think the final image was worth it.

The high key lighting here almost suggests a high key noise! At least to me... Wonderful emotion and work!

I really love the high key in this! I am not sure if I totally like that half her face is missing, but its so cool, I'll call it artistic and run with it! :) gets the message across...loud and clear (couldn't resist!) :)

I don't have time to vote this week, but I just wanted to leave you a quick comment that I really like your photo. I can definitely see you getting a ribbon. It meets the challenge, and is technically very well executed. The high-key photo is nicely balanced by the black rim of the hat. Composition is unusual and works well. Congratulations on a wonderful photo :)

I like the photo for the "sound" topic, but I think the lack of contrast makes it a very flat photo, and it might be improved by playing with the levels some to add give it a little more dimension.

The high key (light) emphasizes the noise level here. The hat, necklace, and bracelet are good anchors - give your eyes some guidance where they might otherwise get lost in all that white. I like the crop too - balance between the loud sound and wanting to block it out. Nice all around! 9

Did you intentionally blow out this shot? I am guessing you did... kind of a neat effect, I like it. Nice composition! Great job! I might have dubbed it.... White Noise

Like the exposure and the composition. Captures the challenge.

Though I really like the composition on this, I think the "whiteness" of it is particularly effective. It really stands out, I think

WONDERFUL high key shot. I like the expression, the pose and everything. The arm is a nice frame, but I almost wish the elbow was still present - the dark hat is VERY dark - not sure that's good or bad - I want my attention on her hand/face, not on her hat and bracelet. 9

I'm not sure the arm:face ratio in this shot is the best choice, and I'm quite certain I would have preferred a darker background for more contrast between it and the skin. I see the relation to the topic but it wasn't an instant impact of 'sound', it took a moment to settle in.

I think the composition here is perfect. I wouldn't change a thing. 10.
