One of the best hikes in the bay area is this hike to Berry Creek Falls in Big Basin SP. The big pay-off, after a grueling 4.5 mile hike, is this wonderful view of the falls. The photos you take during the hike, and by the waterfalls, certainly makes the (mostly uphill) 4.5 mile return hike worth it!

Simply an awesome shot. You have used exactly the right settings, I think, to get a very nice, almost "heavenly" look to your photo. The water looks so peaceful and inviting, a person could just sit and look at this shot, I think.

I like the wood at the bottom, as well, as this seems to add a hint of reality to the picture.

The only criticism I have is that it seems a bit dark on either side of the falls. Of course, in order to properly expose the falls, that may be necessary, but it does almost lose some details.

I also think this would be a great shot in color.

Best to you in future challenges.

Nice capture. I would have cropped out the bottom logs though, they are not adding to the composition in my opinion, as well, there seems to be a decided lack of "noise" in the shot..I would have liked more texture in the nature surrounding the falls.

The more I see this, the more I fall in love with it...it's not such a simple picture, so it deceives us. I started this shot at a 7 and now I'm going to leave it at a 9 because I keep coming back to it. Excellent work.

The tones here, created by excellent lighting, are marvelous! The sharpness of the soil and plants contrast well with the fuzzy waterfall.

I love the tones, the sofness, and the shutter speed to get the blurred water. it feels like something from a dream or an illustration for a fairy tale. Awesome shot. good luck. 10

Very pretty waterfall. Much of the photo is dark side (for my tastes).

Wonderful shot and use of duotones. Getting that bright lighitng at the base of the falls was a good find.

Beautiful and well done. Sure would like to know how you get the waterfall to look so soft. I'm not having any luck with it. Anyway =10++++

I think I would want more to see the color version in stead of this B&W.
Nice capture of the waterfall.

This makes me want to see it in colour. The area is pretty, but it wouldn't have been my first choice for a B&W shot just for that reason.

I like the misty moody quality created by the silky flow. It's a very serene scene with strong composition. Lovely work.

This photo is lovely for the softness of the water. This may be an old photographers' technique, but combined with the surrounding darkness makes the viewer feel as if one has come across a hidden jewel in the wilderness.

Absolutely gorgeous. like a touch more contrast/light, but considering subject and looks like minimal light, is great

beautiful shot... not many people seem to work with waterfalls in black and white, but this one is quite nice... the exposure is just about perfect... I really love the way the logs are arranged at the bottom... beautiful work :) = 10
