Liking the great depth of the picture as well as that totally wicked lens flare. Damn that's sweet. I'd love to know how to do that. Lens flare is one of my favorite mood enhancing effects.

Yeah, this needed a higher placement. The title? A bit wordy, but the photo is outstanding. Great contrast and detailing.

Just found this. 16th?????????????????? Criminal!
09/16/2005 05:28:43 PM
Just perfect post editing on this shot. You have really made it into a work of art. I like the title as well. Composition, while centered, works perfectly here.

I would love to see this if you could fix those white spots, rain? It would so go in my favs!

This should have ribboned in my opinion. My favorite in the challenge.

Im sure your hearing how this should be in the Branch challenge?
This is a historically amazing tree. Wow.

Bit too much dark for me, but what a cool tree!

Really impressive. You captured a very "E.A. Poe"ish mood here. The lens flares add a touch of doubt to the question in the title. It is a quote, I guess? I'l have to come back to see where you got it from. 10. Going to favs.

Extraordinary study of black and white contrast with an outstanding subject and excellent composition. The lens flare is the only thing I don't like about this otherwise gorgeous photo. Very nicely done!

This is such a spectacular setting... I wish the shot was consistently in better focus and that the sunspots weren't visible. This tree is amazing though and set against the rocks makes for high contrast on a number of levels. Good job.

I've never been a Dylan fan at all, but I won't hold that against you. This is one of my three favorite images in the challenge. Well done. :)

I even like the lens flare in this... and yet... I wonder what it would look like if cloned out. Meanwhile this has a great quality of mystery. I like it very much.

Love this picture. The light coming through on the right is a little distracting to me (IMHO) but does not detract from the overall appeal of the shot.

The Ents have come!

Great how the tree tries to cling on to the world, it might be dead, it might be alive I don't care. It is just great how a living thing flows into something we consider dead. Great B&W. The lens flare? The photo would be better without it. 8

Incredible subject. I love your treatment of this image. I could sit and study this for awhile...in fact I think I will. thank-you

very surreal. =) This is my type of photo. But I'm not sure if the majority will agree. The post-process haters might bash you. Good luck!

I think it would be more dramatic if the photo was taken looking a little more up at the tree so the brances are in the white sky.

Beautiful picture, too bad about the flare.

Gorgeous shot!!
Not sure how well this will fit into high contrast with the voters - good luck.
(same the lens flare hits a bit wrong too - did you clone one spot out?)

Absolutely gorgeous. If it were up to me, this would win 1st place, hands down. The detail, the tones, the contrast - just perfect. I'll even overlook the sun glare spots.. may I put this on my desktop?

This is an incredibly moving image, in particular the part below the line of the rocks.

Insufficient white for a good high contrast pic IMHO. You have a large spike of light gray at the 95th percentile.
I would like to be able to see more of the detail

Gret composition. IMHO little too obvious in areas of dodging.

It looks like the tree from Harry Potter, or the pic looks like something from Lord of the Rings
