Was on holiday for this challenge. This classical shot was probably too good (clever) for a large number of voters who needed a face full of obvious milk to see the connection.
Pity, this should have been in the top twenty at the very least.
Don't allow this to cause you to Dumb down please

Heck, I don't know, Bear ... perhaps you should of just thown it all in a big pot of milk and submitted the impact crater. Yeah... that's it! And.. and.. and then the resulting "wall" of milk will look like a crown coming out of the liquid ... with .. with lots of little drips on top of the "spikes" .. and.. and that would look really cool! I know its my idea .... but it's OK if you use it. Just act like you thought of it.

For those who think it's a plate, it isn't. It's a very large, cobalt bowl with a smaller cobalt bowl inverted inside it. So the cheese is several inches above the milk. And the shadow? That's deliberate; the only indicator of depth int he image, the only noticeable clue.

The slight offsetting and rotation of the cheese is likewise intentional. I didn't want this thing to be too "perfect".

I like making 3-dimensionality "flat".

The cheese is a very unusual Irish Porter. I have no idea what that stuff is in it.

Thanx to all commenters.

Best graphically accomplished shot in the challenge, this is a delight to look at and would make a great wall hanging in a restaurant. I would shop it around, if I were you. One of my top ten of this week.

Nice use of complementary colors and good, sharp focus. Wish I could get that kind of cheese here!

The vivid blue and white plate are nice, but it doesn't show off the block of cheese very well. It is such a stark contrast in color. Perhaps sticking with a white plate would have been better.

I'm guessing this is cheese...Im not sure I'd eat it, though! Nice color and composition.

The plate is pretty but the cheese looks like a piece of marble.

ooo sis! blue cheese! ha ha, cool idea and cool photo, think the blue plate is a little strong though, over powering the picture

Beautiful blue and tan colors. I'm not at all familiar with this kind of cheese (unless it is head cheese.)

Very good take on the challenge. I like the plate and background. If the cheese had also been round to compliment the plate shape I would have scored it even higher. Great shot though!

This took al lot of work to set up and it shows. quite a captivating image and just spoilt a little by the off-centre light which has cast the shadow on the milk. A niggle is that the cheese is slightly of-centre. I would reject this from an ad shoot. No mistake though, good craft, well done.
