I know dark and moody wins here lately. So what do I do? Come up with a high-key studio shot! Makes sense right?

Setup: pie tin filled with milk about an inch deep on kitchen table, with tons of newspaper to soak up the mess. It was messy.
Used onboard flash to freeze the action. Would have preferred a bright light source with shutter priority in order to use burst mode, but I didn't have any lights powerful enough on hand. However with the extra effort I had a few decent shots to choose from.

~~~
I expected the rolling eyes at a splash shot. That didn't surprise me at all. I entered this because I was curious as to whether this type of shot still has appeal at this site. Now that the curiosity has been satiated I can move on :D
i liked this better than the 2nd place finish...great similair photo, and the only thing that hurt this a little was the flash spots on the milk droplets. Great photo.
really, the splash is way overdone, and not just in this challenge.
must be a popular combo, strawberries and cream...
Good choice of shutterspeed to capture the drops of milk. It would have been better if the light hadn't reflected so much in the milk, as I find those kinda distracting, but still a good shot.
There had to be someone to do this! Nice shot. Trying the same thing with cream may have been more effective in both concept as well as creating bigger spalshes. The texture on the splash is very pleasing though - well done - 8 first time round. Getting in closer still, and off centre composition, and reducing the shadows would have gained the extra 2 points from me.
Good job on the capture. The splash is frozen well, and fairly well defined from the background. The strawberry is in focus but looks a little oversaturated. 8.
Even tho not your attempt I am sure, it still reminded me of the warmth of Christmas, also of France and creme fresche. 9 Did you glaze the strawberry, or was it frozen?
The strawberry is great...the milk seems oversharpened & a little too bright on my monitor.
Magnificent! Lots of these photos here but this is easily the best I've seen, importanatly both the milk and strawberry are instantly recognisable. 10
Excellent capture with good focus and lighting. The centered strawberry works well here. IMO, the milk could look a little whiter by getting rid of the slight yellow color cast. 9
figured we would se several of these. Yours is a bit overexposed or needs more shadow behind the splash.
