After the challenge:

I recieved this PM from SDW65 shortly after the challenge ended:

As you know most the people here love Photoshop, including myself. But this photograph shows how an original, with little editing, picture can out shine the best photoshoped pictures. There is more emotion in your photograph that anyone or I could create by using post-processing. The title is great because you see it in his eyes, his grasp, and his facial expressions. Looks like he is about to or has been crying.
I'm sorry for the PM. But I felt this picture deserved more than just a comment say congratulations. This is truly what photography is about.
-SDW

This and 41 comments during the voting is worth more than a 4th place finish any day. Thank you to all that commented and voted. I'm humbled.
TC

A well deserved 4th place Ron!

Yes, for Live music its great but would love to lose the blue mic either by cropping or preferable cloning. Unlike others I don't know the guy but his eyes certainly sing the blues! Excellent capture of time and emotion.

Man those eyes have got the blues! This is a beautiful, evocative capture. As well as being a technically fine photograph, what I especially admire is the mood you've created; so sympathetic to this musical genre. Of course, the guy is responsible for a lot of that ... he's the perfect bluesman! 9

I don't think you've caught him at a good moment during this set... his eyes look unbelievably tired and I don't think it's particularly flattering. I bet he looked better when he was singing.
