WOW - outstanding shot! Perfectly met the challenge (although that one was before my time here at DPC) and is so expertly rendered. Very cool. Congrats on your top 10 finish - it was well-deserved.

Rob,

How did you get the backgound to work so well? Did you do that in front of a tv screen or was the background put in later?

Since I haven't seen any of the Matrix movies, I really can't comment if you picture fits or not. It seems to based on what I have heard and read about it though.

This is a great idea, and you have executed it well. The background gives it that futuristic/computer feeling, but the hand serves as a reminder of humanity. Someone had commented about the shadow across the hand. I think that it works well in the picture, because it really shows the suspended look.

I think a bit more light on the handle of the spoon would have made it a touch more effective. This would have given some details that are missing and may have made it seem more "in focus." A slightly larger dof may have helped that as well, though by having part of it blurry, the main part of the spoon is very much the focal point.

Good work -- a creative idea, executed well. Best to you in future challenges.

Nice shot. I didnt get to see this during the vote. (8.5)
I think more dark or start lighting on the hand would have looked more.... cinematic.

Very clear shot, well executed and fitting into the challenge well.
The hand lacks detail, maybe lost in processing, but the image is still very effective.

cool

Nice image. I really like how you provided the image with the special effects in the background. The shadow and lighting that you used for the photo also creates a lot of attraction to the image. Good job.

great title

Good shot - worked a little on something similar myself. I think the code is a bit obvious, not sure it was necessary to quote directly from the film imagery, though I guess just a bent spoon wouldn't be understood by those who don't know the film. Two minor points: the scratches on the spoon are a pity (they make it a real world object, which is perhaps out of place in such a photo), and the organisation of the fingers is a touch distracting - but they're minor points.

good choice of soft setting chosen for the hand (intentional?) nice.

If the shadow on the hand could have been avoided it would have added to the surreal nature of this shot.

Sharp and clear. The palm still can be showing so clearly from the picture even close-up shooting. I guess the lightning from the shooting place was not enough at all, still the hand can be turn-out so clear with less lightning. The spoon !! U got power of bending down the spoon, causing that curve, is it? I salute you. ^ ^ what a great MATRIX pic !! 7

The idea is similar to others i've seen today, but the execution is much better than the others! Focus and sharpness excellent - 8

Not a bad concept. It certainly meets the challenge. I'm not sure about the light flares on the spoon handle, and probably would have liked the handle to be a bit more in focus.

Very effective. Clever idea, good title. One of the better entries this week.

The shadow across the hand is the only thing that really bothers me about this photo. I like how the spoon appears to be floating!

nicely composed. I like the matrix data flow as the background element
