These are the gates leading to the Boot Jack Ranch a few miles west of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. It is a fabulous place, so huge and grand. The couple who own it are very wealthy. The house that goes with the gates is HUGE, it is a long ways down the road into the mountains. You can only see it if you go up on Wolf Creek pass and look down with binoculars. It is a giant log "cabin".

It was raining when I took the picture and I was really disappointed that the light wasn't better. However, when I looked at the pictures when we got home they turned out pretty well in spite of the rain. In fact, I think they had a nice mysterious quality about them.

Sammie, I love the light, particularly the fog beyond the valley completes the pictures. Way cool. Terrific job of meeting the theme.

Titlted very slightly to the right, however not noticeable enough to be distracting. "8" from me.

Affluent? Oh yeah. Beautiful composition with superb elements throughout that all compliment the other. One of my top ten picks for the challenge.

Beautiful picture. I really looks like a nice, peaceful place to live. Shows excellent depth with beautiful lighting. I really like how the mountainous background disappears in the fog. 10

This is a PERFECT illustration of affluence. The scenery takes my breath away. If I got to live in scenery like that. . .I would defintely feel like the wealthiest person on earth, no matter how much (or little) money I had :) Great job! 10

I grew up in a place where this kind of spread was true affluence. It may be my history and personal experience, but I believe you have captured very well the notion of Western Affluence. Outstanding photo. Among my top 3 picks.

If I had a nit to pick, and if we had advanced editing available, lightening the forest just slightly would have increased the contrast with the logs and made this an eye poppingly great photo.
