Just stumbled across this picture a year or so later. This would easily have ribboned in the 2006 firework challenge. I placed 5th after DQs and this one would have torn mine to shreds. Nice shot.

Oh, man. I so wanted to shoot those fireworks for this challenge. I was driving in from the suburbs when I saw them, but I didn't have my camera with me. A lovely shot.

Well captured. It also gives the illusion that the city is ablaze. Very well done.

Excellent capture... I love fireworks photos over a city line like this. Now if only that cloud (or smoke) didn't go right through the middle - but that's being picky.

Best firework shot I've seen, but your image has many other interesting qualities as well. The lights of the city, especially along the waterfront (well, the bottom; I think it's a waterfront) are beautiful. And the sky is just awesome. Also, the composition is very good, as of course is the in-camera and post-camera execution. A memorable photograph. 7

great shot! there's just a slight illusion that horizon is not levelled. (or is it just my eyes?)

If it weren't for that cloud cutting through the firework, this would be great. I know you took a long exposure on this, but it ended up giving the wierd red lights in the smoke, adn the smaller firework behind the bright one. Maybe a levels adjustment to make the brown sky black would help. 5

I like the way the cloud covers part of the firework. I find it adds a mysterious feeling to the photo. The photo is level with great clarity and beautiful colors and I like the you can still see traces of the firework that went off previously. Well done and good luck in this challenge. <8>

Great timing in terms of making a nice skyscape into a WOW composition. Lovely series of lights from the streetlamps to the office lights to the firework itself.

Thisis one of the best fireworks pictures I think I've seen on DPC lately...it's so nice seeing more than just the firework floating against a flat black background...very nice.

'8' - Very nice shot. I just noticed the 'drifts' at the bottom (look like smoke) and at the top (smaller works?) that you have captured, never seen that before in a fireworks shot. Nice perspective. Criticism (with the caveat I know squat about long exposures); at first glance it looked like the water's edge was a fraction higher on the right, but on closer inspection it seemed to balance out to my eye(s). On looking again now the same thing though, it may be the ships(?) in the very right of the frame doing it, not sure. Perhaps this shot might be even more dramatic with even less water, not sure. For me, even a darker sky/city contrast would make this a better photograph in my opinion.

WOW That THAT's a firework's display. I like the black in the forground - it grounds the picture well. Nice sky. The lights of the buildings are like little tiny pin pricks. 8
