I'm the model for this photo & I wanted to convey the hard work that goes into writing. My original idea was to be looking directly into the camera with an expression of intent thoughtfulness on my face, but I couldn't get rid of the distracting reflections in my glasses so I had to abandon that idea. I also wanted to include more of my favorite books among those scattered around me, but the photo was becoming too cluttered so I settled on just a few & the rest went back on the shelf.

I benefitted a lot from the good advice jmsetzler gave on this page about composing photos & I wonder whether some elements of this picture should have stayed or gone (the power cord & the external mouse - should I have removed them or not? They're part of the "tools" but do they really add anything to the photo...?). In the end, however, this is the version of the photo that I went with.

nice pic, why did you amputaed his foot. I miss something below, both the foot and the books top.

8 - Met the Challenge (including the portrayal of 'thought'). Nice clean composition and simple, the b/w works well in my opinion. Criticism; maybe a slighter more diagonal/fly on the ceiling angle. The foot in frame. On thinking, I am wondering how you got this angle, well done either way. If this was 'set up', I can see a lot of thought went into the composition and the 'material used'.

nice composition, could have been made better by moving everything over to the right and the book on the right over to the left so your eyes would then be lead around an implied spiral to the laptop.

for some reason i dont like the lower crop on the leg and the books. when i "read" the photo my eyes come to an abrupt stop there. good for stock photography, with that better crop it would have been perfect. a 6 in this challenge.

LOL...been here, done this! Good composition, especially the look on his face, as if writers block is rearing it's ugly head. Well done...
