Seelctive color, hue/saturation, USM, lots and lots of neat image. The haloing aroudn trees is an artifact of sharpenign and neat image I think, I am out of time and don't have time to fix it.

I thought you said you didn't use any neat image? :)

Ubique: You are entitled to your opinion as much as everyone else is entitles to theirs. Some people may not have minded the pink, but just thought it was too overdone, or not done well. No need for profanities.

Bullshit. Why should every photograph exhibit colour fidelity? This is dusk. Dusk is evening. Evening is velvet. Velvet is this colour. I don't want to go over the top here, especially as Robert says it's a bit of a throw-away shot for him, but PLEASE have a look at a couple of Van Gough paintings ... do you imagine Vincent's colours and textures are high-fidelity?

Agreed, in principle but not int he specific instance; after all, I'm well-known for extreme color-throwing (I wish it were an olympic sport), but this is SUCH a botched-up job. I got no problem with the colors per se (they are pretty much what I wanted) but the execution is abysmally bad IMO.

LOL, I am amzed this broke 5.0... As I hinted above, this was shoehorned in at the last minute. The colors are ridiculously overdone, and I don't blame folks for thinking it looks silly. Since it was basic editing, there was nothing I could do about the white shirt and bag picking up the hue. The "haloing" around the tree/sky interface has nothing to do with burning or sharpening; obviously I didn't burn, it's basic editing rules. Sharpoening was minimal. There was some sort of weird synergy developing between hue/sat and selective color, and I didn't have time to figure it out before submitting.

"I only did this because I'd JUST gotten my 10-22mm zoom, and I wanted to get something IN!" he muttered plaintively.

Robt.

i think the levels were a little too overdone for this image. The magenta bleeds into the man's shirt which i doubt really happens. The image in itself is done very well. The white plastic bag (?) just behind the fisherman is a little distracting against a saturated green. I suggest toning the levels down and this image would be perfect.

Beautiful picture... I love the purples on the water

Red hue is very unnatural ,sky selective burning is visible on the top of the trees and saturation is high.

The thing here, that is bothering me the most, is that the fisherman and his bag is pink(purpel)?
Too hard PS work here for me:/

I like fishing shots, and they do so often convey the fisherman's self-contained world (thus independence, I guess, although to me it's more a feeling of solitude). This is a beautiful scene and accurately conveys the velvet quiet of approaching evening ... very evocative. My only disappointment here is that the fisherman is perhaps a little too distant, and thus not prominent enough to justify his titular status. But I still love the feel of this image. 7

I like this shot, but my screen is registering strong purplish hues on the sky and water, and the person's clothing.

nice composition and feel to this shot. i wish the colors were a bit more subdued. perhaps a nice warm colored duotone would really enhance the feeling of the moment. but what do i know i've never done duotone coloring before. the leading line to the fisherman is quite nice as well. the more i look, the more that stick in the foreground bothers me...perhaps you could have broke it off...i'll stop now.

The pink tones don't do much for me. I think I would really like this with a more natural color set. Even B/W. Just not pink.

dislike colour hue too reddish even if sunset! sharp, fisherman too far away

Too saturated for my taste. Nice Comp though.

This photo looks overprocessed. It has a purplish color cast that is very unrealistic.

I'm not so sure about the color. I like it in the water but the guys shirt looks weird

i like your composition. the colors look a little fake though.

This looks like it could be a nice photo but the post-processing needs a lot of work! I'm guessing you tried to make it look like Dusk when it really wasn't, by making the colours like a sunset. In fact what you've ended up with is an awful mix of green and unnatural pink. Ignoring the fact that the colour is so bad, the halo around the treeline and the pond weeds is very distracting, and was probably caused by poor application of USM with too wide of a radius. The detail in the grass in the foreground seems to have almost disappeared, maybe due to excessive neat-image or other noise-removing technique? I really think the post-processing totally ruins this shot. A simple B&W with more careful sharpening would be much more appealing.

The composition seems to work and the exposure seems ok (maybe just a little under) however the colours seem weird.

Too Surreal - Too pink. Everything else seems pretty good and misght have made for a solid image. The color is too much to overlook.

I should be very surprised if this is what the camera saw - looks like we just took the green gamma curve down a few notches. It's a little wierd, but it mostly works, I think. The stick in the foreground is a problem. And the white whatsit behind the fisherman is a distraction. Otherwise, a good effort.

The purple effect is cool in the sky and the water, but it shows up so many other places that it makes it very unnatural and fake looking.

Very pretty! The sunset reflecting in that water is amazing. Great timing for this shot.

Interesting scenery, but your colour balance is way off. The image is too heavily saturated in magenta.

I don't know if the pink color of thesky and the lake is original or what but it is not very charming for me. But otherwise I like the picture a lot.

The purple of the sky is so beautiful againsat the green. I wish you could have captured this saturation without making his shirt and the bag on the ground pink. The reflection is lovely.
