I thought much about this challenge and tried to see how I could address this issue. I had to go back to Redding on a business trip and remembered Calatrava's Sundial Bridge. Against the deep blue night sky, I was able to photograph the clean, crisp lines of this beautiful bridge.

Nice one indeed. I realised it was a plane wing, but wasn't sure whether it was some stunt planes smoke trail. This is very good - love the clean lines and the fit for the challenge. Great when vou can time plane trips with challenges like this one. Shame about the disqual.

Well done - and thanks for the big picture. Nice to get a Redding in the top 5 even in this obscure way (Surname of at least 4 DPCers).

Thanks everyone for all the great comments. I didn't have to do much except crop the image. Here is the original file. Cropping is definitely a photographer's best friend.

I'm not certain what I'm looking at, but somehow it doens't make much difference. I like the lines and the lighting, and appreciate it as an abstract.

Cool shot! Where is this bridge at? I'd like to see it. From a technical pov, you have color banding in the sky. I always find this destracting. What size file did you save this to? Did you use the entire 150k?

I like this a lot. I wonder if it would've benefitted from a deeper DOF.

Strong, simple lines and great lighting, but I can't really see a focal point that the lines are leading me to.

I love the blue! This looks like a large structure, if only you could control the light to fill the rest more smoothly. Good luck!

Wow, when you shot this, it's almost as though you knew it would ribbon here. Well, I can't see why it won't. Nice, vibrant colors. Simple and elegant, just the type DPCers get all hot and bothered for. I'll give you a good vote...after all, that was the plan all along, right?

i really enjoy the angle you chose, and how deep the blue of the sky is. The bridge does feel a litle underexposed though. 9

nice abstract. wish the sky was a deeper blue. the light on structure seems to not coincide with your focal point. maybe some burning and dodging so it's easier on the eye to get to the tip...sorry i'm being picky. maybe a bit more room after the tip would help as well...sorry now i'm being really picky...i'll stop now.
