This reflection really reaches out and touches me and that's what photojournalism is all about.

I think we need more reflective contemplation and few casualties to memorialize...

A very evocative place. You've captured it well, but everything from the small flag to the R edge of the frame could be cropped to strengthen the image. Personally, I'd lose the girl looking the "wrong" way, too.

Nice shot, a little washed out on the right side though. Everyone looks so reflective, except for the woman in the jumper. It looks like she is smiling. I guess you could've said, "hey, you, stop smiling. Look serious." Ha.Ha. I like the epheral feel of the reflection and the boldness of the flag on the left.

Why did you fuzzy up the people? In doing so you have denied your viewer the ability to share in their emotions which are most clearly reflected in their faces. Yes the stance of the body may in fact give part of the message but not completely. The magic of photography is taking your viewer into a place they have never been and sharing it with those who were there. I have read the the rants about lack of appreciation for creativity but sometimes you defeat your viewer with it.

Very nice, all around good photo. I like how the reflection of the sky takes over the wall. It almost has a photoshop edited effect to it (even though it isnt). Curious as to how many shots you took of this before you got this one.

Tough picture. It has been taken a million times before and I have seen it almost that much :-)

So you had some big shoes to fill. Nicely done. Congratulations on your example and a very nice one it is :-)

Neat with the flag included, and the words (Vietman veterans' memorial?). The problem is, though, that without the reflection, flag, and words, the picture would be sort of blah. The actual image in the reflection doesn't seem to really stand up to the frame. Obviously, you can't ask Vietman veterans to move on Memorial day, but still...OK, I think my comment is what you were referring to in the forums, so I'm going to try to explain it a little better. What I mean is that you've really got a great frame going here, with the words, reflection, flag, etc. It's really a very nice idea. But the actual subject of the photo, the people, are kind of cluttered and just really not that interesting, and they don't seem to be very expressive of Vietnam or memorializing. Without your frame, it could be just a snapshot at a family barbecue or something. While I understand that your control is very very limited in these types of situations and I can't comment on what other opportunities you might have had, this picture just struck me as being very nicely framed, with a not-so-interesting subject.

Nice effect, too bad the marble wasn't smoother. No suggestions on improving this shot, it appears as good as it could be. Photo 9 Creativity 10 (++) People 9 total 9

Very cool, exactly the kind of effect that memorial was designed to create, I believe (although I'm not sure, I'm not American).

Beautiful photo !

Great idea! How could any "good American" give this photo anything less than a 9?
