May have been better with less light and without the board being illuminated...Just a thought. Nice effect though.

This is an exceptionally high quality photograph with superb tones and full range of tonality to sold black.

The only technical flaw is that the lighting is unbalanced on the board. You should have another similar light on the right side. If this was done intentionally then you may have considered putting the light at a steeper angle to magnify the effect and produce some shadows. That would add interest and make the effect more obvious to the casual viewer.

Fantastic lighting, I love how the glass is glowing. Great image.

Sharp and well lit.

Beautiful. Very good use of light and "Darkness." I gave a 7, even though I dont play chess! Good luck.

The title is stretching it a bit. Lovely photo however.

Good shot but personally think it would look better with less light on the one side

Very good shot! Does it meet the challenge?...I don't see it, but it is a great shot anyway

Nice clean photograph! I love the light to dark gradient.

Very nice use of light and darkness. Good luck.

I would have given a 10, if it werent for the fact, that the perspective is a little crooked. If you had taken the shot a LITTLE more to the right, it would have been perfect.
Otherwise an awesome photograph.

Love it

the cropping isnt so fantastic. too much on the right, which needs a little bit more cropped off. overall nice pic, but to imrpove, try aligning all the chess pieces in a straightline, maybe? an 8 for this shot.

Great detail - crisp as can be. Nice lighting!

IMHO this image -- although very nice -- did not meet the challenge
