AE, AF, USM,
Levels, Curves, HSL

It started with a large sheet of sketch paper rolled up into a cone. I took dozens of photos of the inside, outside, and ends of the cone, most of them into a strong light. At one point the cone started unwinding. I took two shots where the light shone through the outer layer and glanced across the inner rolled core of the paper cone. The glowing quality impressed me, although a significant amount of boost was required using curves and HSL.

Should have placed much higher.

Nice interpretation of this challenge. I think this scored lower than it deserves, but probably because it's fairly abstract, as well as simplistic. Well done.

I find this to be simply beautiful. The balance of the composition is spot-on. The lighting is exquisite, the tonalities breathtaking. I hope it does well, but I'm afriad it's not "literal" enough in terms of the challenge. Love the title.

Very pretty image, but you can't tell what it really is. Wonderful abstract.

Not enough here to keep my interest. Nice light though.

I really like this. The texture is amazing and the contrast in light is well-done.

Liked the first 3 or 4 books, then it just got too weird for me. Didn't like the Sting movie, did like the 6 hour made for TV movie. Anyway, like the color contrast here, really looks like the edge of the sun. Nice shot!

Tough I realize its paper and your image seems to be, in techical terms, nice and well executed, it doesnt have impact and is not a very interesting one. However, you've managed to create pretty good light/shadow effects. Good luck.

Hmmm...I would have been impressed if you'd gotten a shot of Shai-Hulud! Shai-Hulud used to be my LAN gaming name, but there's something vaguely wrong about having a call sign derived from the name of a worm...
