and i like her hands...
she wanted it that way, so that looks perfect on her...
i don't think that this photo would look so complete without her hands... she would'nt be relaxed enough...
12/12/2004 11:00:38 AM
she is very beautiful
06/01/2004 04:41:22 PM
beautiful!

Mike: this was a good shot, really done well.
I thought it would do better, but then that's just how it goes sometimes.
Keep them coming!!

Great light, beautiful subject. Too bad she is so shy, photo does not look natural. would have been better if arms were draped elsewhere.
05/19/2002 08:42:00 PM
I really love the shadow in this image, and how abruptly it masks the subject. Nice job.
05/19/2002 04:49:00 PM
Absolutely georgously done... sensational.. that's about all I can manage to say.. Wow.
05/19/2002 04:21:00 PM
The only reason I'm not scoring this that extra little bit higher than I already am is because of the shadow across her forehead. The one running across her arm is OK, because I can still make out the arm in the shadow, but the one across her head simply bothers me. I really like the shadow of her eyelashes and the nice composition. It's just that blasted shadow.... :-)

This photograph appeals to me probably because I have respect for the womanly body. I wonder if the photograph would be better with less shadows? -NBT

This is a good shot. The lighting is very powerful and the composition is nice. Something doesn't sit exactly right with me though. After thinking about it all week, the best way I can describe it is the overall image is "soft," but the way she is holding her hands to cover her breasts is very flexed -- angular and sharp. It gives the impression that she is nervous about posing. maybe relaxing the hands. The expression on her face says, "I am alone in my world; I am reflecting on my world," but her hands say, "This is a picture going international on the internet." How to fix? I don't know without totally ruining the composition. MAYBE if you could have shot at a more upward angle so that she wouldn't have to cover herself, or flattening her hands some. Maybe from the same vantage point, but cross her arms over her like a hug. Then the picture may have given the impression that she has lost something important and is contemplating it. I don't know.

top marks for the cute model
05/17/2002 12:25:00 PM
Great photo, great subject deserves a great score.

The blackest blacks are not quite perfectly black on my monitor but you still get a 10 and one of my 5 best this week.
05/16/2002 06:51:00 AM
the shadow across her forehead makes it a little more mysterious
05/15/2002 11:53:00 PM
if only the shaddows weren't there
05/15/2002 11:15:00 PM
beautiful shot, mike. the contrast, lighting, and composition are all excellent.
05/15/2002 09:48:00 PM
Intresting use of shadows love the look in her eyes.
05/15/2002 03:06:00 PM
Light from yonder window. Very, very nice.
05/15/2002 03:01:00 AM
The sheer beauty of this shot is, IMHO, worth the 8, even if I think it's somewhat cliched.
05/15/2002 12:44:00 AM
Someone here is luckly, and it aint me.
Serioulsy though, well lit, good framing, nice focus.
I doubt she would have let you hang her from the ceiling (j/k) so this is the next best thing.
05/14/2002 05:06:00 PM
Totally classic! One of my top three.
05/14/2002 03:07:00 PM
Nice interpretation and tastefully done.
05/14/2002 02:49:00 PM
shadow on the forehead seems out of place and the tonal range is quite flat on the skin.

Lovely model/pose.
05/14/2002 01:32:00 PM
Sexy shot! Nicely descrete. Nice use of shadows. Photo 10 Creativity 8 Upsidedown 9 total 9
05/14/2002 11:01:00 AM
the only shadow i'm not liking is the one across her forehead.
05/14/2002 09:19:00 AM
Excellent Lighting - nice and soft. I love how she is framed by the light. A frame within a frame.
05/14/2002 09:13:00 AM
This is one of the best executed upside down picture in this challenge. I hope that voters can see the artistic value. Beautiful! I especially like you use of light and shadow to bring the focus to the womans face.
05/14/2002 03:43:00 AM
Great tonal range. I like the framing effect of the shadow and dark background, and you seem to have posing well in hand {ahem}. This should do very well, but I bet you get a lot more silly comments. Applaud your bravery. Using the highly scientific hold-your-hand-over-the-monitor technique, it looks like cropping right from the bottom of the angled shadow makes a nice vertical composition, as well. My favorite (right after mine).
05/13/2002 10:15:00 PM
Beautiful shot. Not sure I'd be brave enough though.
05/13/2002 09:36:00 PM
Stunning. Great use of light. Love the simplicity. I rate this one extremely high. Looks like a winner to me.
05/13/2002 09:06:00 PM
Beauty will get you everywhere.
05/13/2002 08:12:00 PM
that is the right side up for me! very seductive!
05/13/2002 06:45:00 PM
This is a very good shot. I like the lighting and shadows. My top vote.
05/13/2002 06:30:00 PM
very, artisticaly done
05/13/2002 05:13:00 PM
This is very nice... The lighting is also excellent... The skin tone and smoothness of the lighting on the skin adds a lot to this photo. I am wondering what this shot would look like if it were panned to the right a tad to capture more of the light, yet leaving the shadow on the left intact, but just less of it... excellent work! Kudos to the model too :)
05/13/2002 05:11:00 PM
ok porn freek
05/13/2002 04:44:00 PM
This is the winner of the week I think. Two 10's from me this time, and one of them to you. I'm a bit afraid that the next few challenges will be full of nudity after the success of this one. Is this by Gordon McGregor? I love your work...
05/13/2002 03:57:00 PM
Very provocative...
05/13/2002 02:25:00 PM
Excellent photo. Interesting lighting. Nice subject. Well done.
05/13/2002 02:06:00 PM
good job!
05/13/2002 01:43:00 PM
Very beautiful shot. The lighting and the composition are just fantastic.
05/13/2002 12:31:00 PM
Simply beatutiful! Light, shadows, and simplicity.
05/13/2002 11:24:00 AM
Pretty girl and I love the B&W. Nice comp. Your light/shadow is wonderful. I'm just a bit bothered by the shadow on her forehead. Still this is lovely and I like it very much.
Score! for beauty.
05/13/2002 09:52:00 AM
Hubba hubba.
05/13/2002 09:44:00 AM
Wonderful! This is an excellent image. I just love black and white, very beautiful.
05/13/2002 08:05:00 AM
Gorgeous.... Perfect in black and white
05/13/2002 07:56:00 AM
Interesting lighting that crops out the subject. Well done.
05/13/2002 07:02:00 AM
HEY LOOK AT ME I'M NAKED
05/13/2002 06:38:00 AM
i love you
05/13/2002 06:10:00 AM
Nice B&W composition.
05/13/2002 05:57:00 AM
I love the picture. It is very "artsy"ut not sure it meets the challenge.
05/13/2002 05:53:00 AM
uh UH!! That looks right side up to me! (I just hurt my neck trying to look at her face). She's beautiful.
05/13/2002 02:11:00 AM
This is a wrenchingly beautiful photograph. The only thing that gets me about it is the coyness of covering the nipples... it makes it seem self-conscious. The nipples themselves would add a great element to the outline of the breasts too... although I know that if they weren't given some support, her breasts would fall towards her armpits (I know, I have a pair myself as I commented on the hooters girl photo in the last challenge :). Still, 10 from me.
