AE,AF, Tripod. USM, Levels, Curves, HSL, Neat Image

Two things proved difficult in this simple image: getting enough light to have a decent depth of field, and getting the camera to focus on the right spot and produce the correct exposure level. Nothing magical about lighting, I just got more lights. Focus and exposure were more difficult with this point and shoot. I found a white card with a lot of black printing on it - a cd cover or something - and held it in front of the camera at the plane I wanted in focus. Then I locked the focus and exposure, removed the card, and shot the photo. Got in about twenty takes.

I'm not familiar with the theory, but I do recognize the string! Nice well focused shot. Good lighting.

I guess this is the only way to represent the theory. Nice use of black background.

a lot of people dont have any idea what string theory is.. good luck on winning over the dpc crowd.

how long is it? nice image - big dark room ytou have there! interesting idea - hard to get into a pic. Cannot decide whether the loose bits add or detract from the image.

Simple elegance. Very nice composition. The border adds to the photo I think in this case. Interesting enough, I can't recall the man's name at the moment, but I just saw him on Letterman the other night, he has a recent book out about the 'String Theory'. Lighting, focus -excellant. Perhaps trim the loose strands off, they are just a slight (very minor) distracting.

I didn't realize that the tiny, 26 dimensional vibrating strings of the theory had such structure and detail, even lint! Nice "out of the box" idea.

I love it..but I'm not certain about people who aren't familiar with physics!..8

Now you are reaching... I had a chance to read about strings of energy and theory that attempts on unifying quantum physics and classical mechanics, but how many people do you think will get this. Adding to favourites because I'm curious. And yes, well executed with a very nice DOF and lighting. I would lose the frame, though.
