The pine cone posesses a primal attraction whose explanation has eluded anthropologists and psychologists for centuries. I'm afraid that the harsh lighting has made this viewing angle pretty much impossible for a good shot, since the brighness of the sky and the shadow in the cone are too far apart to be captured by a digital camera without some careful auxilliary lighting.

I like the mathematical shape of the cone, its placement on a rule of thirds vertex, and the trifold symmetry of the twigs that radiate from it. I find the subject to be a little to small and too hard to see.
