Dave,

I'm a fan of your photography and follow your work regularly on DA. Its so dissapointing when DPC's style and direction kicks great photographers like you in the face, I guess its not the place for you because you're better than that!

Best of luck to you...

- Thamer

Kind sir, I just wandered through the portfolio you have here. I'm in awe - you do marvelous work. Thank you kindly for sharing!
03/16/2005 07:05:16 PM
Does "last one" mean you aren't going to compete any more? That would be a shame. You have great work. I really love what you've done here and you deserved such a high score.
03/16/2005 02:55:45 PM
Hey Kiwi. 4th doesn't suck. Pretty good in such a large field. It only sucks if those around you aren't playing by the same rules.

If I would have known I could edit the hell out of an image, pull it up on a monitor and shoot it all within the rules I would have. For a 'no editing' challenge there sure is a bunch of editing going on. Sour grapes? Nah. This was all for fun. All I know is that I busted my butt to create an image that all I had to do was hit auto levels and away ya go. I did so, and I am proud of the image.

Like I said. My last one. Validation has been asked for and I won't submit. I sincerely thank all those that have left comments and kind words. Every comment was read and appreciated...

Normally I don't write comments but I have to say that "Reanimation" is an amazing surrealistic-creative Idea and a wonderful picture. For me definitly the best picture of the challenge. Congrats

03/15/2005 07:02:18 AM
Simple but incredibly effective. I save my tens for the perfect shot but this was a close second. My pick for a ribbon. 9. I'd buy a print of this.
03/15/2005 03:22:25 AM

03/12/2005 02:07:39 PM
Intriguing and unusual. 8
03/12/2005 12:22:19 PM
The distance between the hand ad face add to the drama. So does the black and white.
03/12/2005 11:57:46 AM
Dave, I am so happy you entered! :) This is truely amazing and creative. I enjoy looking at this. Contrast is perfect, tones works very well! If this don't ribbon I don't know what will! Good luck! 10
03/12/2005 10:08:28 AM
nice and clean
03/11/2005 08:33:19 AM
I really like this. you didn't take a photograph you MADE a photograph. I have both those objects and I was trying to think of something i could do with them for this challenge, but never came up with something. PLUS i'm an animator as a profession. GREAT idea for the setup and presentation! clean crisp and well lit too! This a very marketable picture. good luck. if you got this twice it's cause i noticed a typo and had to fix it.
03/11/2005 05:33:41 AM
really clever use of light and b&w
congrats
03/10/2005 09:53:35 PM
Nice composition and lighting I love the concept; the idea is very original in itself. I personally would've added some blood on the face's holes, but hell that's just me ;) 8
03/10/2005 07:40:40 PM
This is great, one of the best.
03/10/2005 06:29:14 PM
This is one of the best
03/10/2005 06:24:52 PM
Great concept, but it lacks good tonal value.
03/10/2005 04:43:12 PM
I like this a lot, although it's fairly clear that you took this picture and then turned it on its side. I was trying to think how you could make it seem more like it was taken in this aspect. One thing you could do is play with the lighting. Also, if you're using a fast shutter speed you could swing the head and take the picture when the head is "above" the fingers, making it seem when the picture is turned that the head is full of helium and trying to escape or something. Anyway, those were my thoughts :)
03/10/2005 12:51:40 PM
