beautiful image, thank you for taking the time to tell us how you did it - white make-up, who would have thought?

Well, obviously YOU, but I would have been wrestling in photoshop.

I admire your work.

Wooo Nasti best score yet, and another 4th place AGAIN! Close though and one day you'll get a ribbon, I haven't seen anyone else here on DPC with a 6.2 average and no ribbons....

Looks like you changed a lot of your comments after the fact :)

I used normal studio lighting with no filters, the girl was very blond and with fair skin, I used some close to white make up, white lipstick and white mascara also. Her hair was sprayed with some ice spray. The original photo was close to light itself. then I turned it into monotoe, duotone with a light tint of blue. sRGB+sharpen. I think a good thing for this photo was that I used a hair spot from the right top corner and it shines through her hair to make them look lighter.
thank you everyone for such nice comments, the girl is a real beauty, i think I will do more things with her in the future.

Very Very nice indeed.
And again, just outside the ribbon....
But congrats on your 4th place...
Not a ribbon you won, but this must be worth a pannenkoek....

I can't believe you came so close to a ribbon, and walked away empty handed yet again. Another outstanding photo from a true master.

First initial impression was the same as ursula's - reminded me of Barbra Streisand. Very nicely done shot. I could see this as an album cover.

Beautiful shot, congratulations! She reminds me of Barbra Streisand somehow, much younger though (duh!). You do good work.

I honestly see no "light color" here and I felt that the challenge was defined by this factor. In a B & W challenge, I would give this a 10!!!! I just feel that to do so right now would be unjust to the people who "met" the challenge. EDIT: after so much variance in the interpretation of the challenge, I am coming back through and this time judging on photogrpahic quality only, and not if it meets the challenge within reason. Bumping up.

My No.1 and a maximum 10!

Beautful image of a beautiful model, but the hair that partially blocks one eye has made it seem that they are not a matched pair, which in turn makes the shot seem out of balance, the darker eye draws the viewer's attention too much; I'd suggest a slight lightening of the exposed eye to bring it closer to the overall lightness of the picture. This should do well in the challenge.

Beautiful shot and model! Great exposure with just a little wahout.

03/07/2005 01:02:42 PM
to me this is more of a black and white than a light color on white background as the challenge suggested.
03/07/2005 08:50:16 AM
Beautiful and soft. I'd like to see it in color. 9.

Wow. This is one to study. I wish I could create a portrait like this. The only problem I have with this is that we can't see her right eye. I think if she moved her hair slightly, the image would get a 10 vote from me. As it stands, a 9.

Hmm...on second thought, I rank this a 10, but I hope you take my advice in the future. For portraits like this, the eyes are the key.

Beautiful model with really nice light on the face. A little overblown on the shoulder, but I didn't even notice until i went looking. The hair highlights work really well. And, for me, the contrast in her eyes makes this image captivating. Good luck in the challenge!

This is the kind of picture where you see the model and you are immediately invited into a kind of comfort and friendly intimacy. Love this photo. Light is dead on as is the composition. Nice pose and ...just fantastic all the way round.

Striking picture - helps that your model is very pretty! I'd prefer to see more of the other eye, and think it might be nice to have seen it in color. One of the best in the challenge.

almost looks like an IR portrait. Nice tonality and composition. a slight tension in her lips doesn't quite fit with the softness of the shot, but nicely done. -8-

Very pretty. Wish the one wisp of hair didn't obscure the models striking eyes. Good luck

Absolutely gorgeous image. The only slight distraction is that hot spot on her neck, but other than that, this is a flawless and beautiful photo that is perfect for this challenge.

By far the best of the portraits in challenge terms. very nicely done. I won't give it a 10 because the subject is lighter than the BG, but a 9 from me.

Awesome! This is the only 'person' pic I've seen done well for this challenge (halfway through all entries. Only thing I would change is the hair in her right eye - beautiful eyes - hate to see them obscured. Should be a top ten finisher!
