"The main motive for "nonattachment" is a desire to escape from the pain of living, and above all from love, which, sexual or non-sexual, is hard work." by George Orwell

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Wow, that was unexpected... and the pain I went through to get this barbwire was unbelievable. It was crazy, every store only sold 200 feet of the damn stuff. My father actually found a guy that works in a store that sells the stuff and has a farm. I drove out to the farm at like 10PM out in the country, dark, no lights and new area, that wasn’t fun. On top of all of that I got a elbow infection from the wire (guess I should have been more careful), still taking pills for the infection. At least my elbow doesn’t look like a baseball anymore.

Thanks everyone.

Nah - it's too coincidental. Same hand is closed, same wire is behind the arm, both hands are doing the exact same thing as the other picture. Couldn't be original.

Folks, I'm the fellow who wrote the previous message with all those links. I did note what I felt were strong similarities, but I have it on very good authority that this is truly one of those coincidences that just happens when you have some millions of digital cameras sold to millions of photographers through out the world.
Just like people, it's very rare to find what appears to be an identical twin who is not related through blood, but on occasion it just happens.
I was originally shocked at the striking similarities between my own photo and this one, but on discovering this Moose was also flattened by the chilling likeness.
I truly believe that he is a good person, with a good heart, and had not had prior knowledge of my image, thereby thinking and going through great lengths to turn this visualization into a truly original work of his own art.
Moose, I commend you on your brilliance and creative work, and the trouble your went through to bring it all together. A job well done, and a ribbon well deserved.
Please accept my apology for posting before making the effort to speak to you first. You have been polite and forth coming, and I feel terrible to have caused you any ageist as a result of my swiftness of text and slowness of thought.

That is just too funny, Ouch... that would hurt.

Great minds think alike. :) Congratulations on your version, you even have the same strand of wire behind your arm as on my original from a year ago, now that's an eerie coincidence.

Congrats on your first ribbon first off. Second I didn't vote but I have to say this is one of the few that actually captured "pain" in the shot. Well deserved ribbon. Hope the elbow heals soon.

hi this might be the worst thing ever...... perhaps if it were from a war torn country it would have an impact. not the staged display of "pain" that is posted here.
02/16/2005 02:58:59 PM
A killer image with that instant attention grab that transfers the pain directly to the viewer. Congratulations on your yellow.

I hope you've had a tetanus shot in the last few years too, although by now it'd be too late.

I trust you're not setting a new bar for effort required to win a ribbon! A pretty powerful shot with a theme and composition similar to one I did, but much better done.

Trust me … I’m not setting any new bars … for me it’s just normal … and that’s to get punished one way or another ;-) But yes, this time it paid off.

Tetanus shot, yes I’ve had one done a few years back. Actually, that’s a whole other story that but I can tell you that I had my last tetanus shot at about 8AM on January 1st, 2000. Let’s just say it was a good New Years Party ;-)

Yes, exciting to have my first ribbon. Thanks

I was going to check it out but finding it in your massive profile is like searching for a needle in a hay stack ;-) ... I'll have to check it out in the morning.

One of the more original images related to 'pain'. The white background could have been used for better effect, perhaps if it was black?

it does look painful :/ great capture and i love the completely blank background, it makes the picture in my opinion.

Great use of contrasts and nice choice of black and white.
This is a phot that anyone can like, and it still meets the criteria.
I think you should do well.

First I thought you'd had a kid grab those barb wires, but then I noticed the hair....I guess my imagination was too dramatic. Nice photo, but I would have expected to be the arms entirely behind the fence... this guy got himself in a lot of trouble ;-)

A little uninspired...by this I mean....whats the meaning? Sometimes on a confusing image the title can help the viewer make sense of it...but you didn't even give us that Still a pleasant image thats composed, exposed and creatively shot. I like how the arms are interwoven witht he wire and not just on one side of it. Adds a nice 3D feel.

Ouch. I like how the spikes sting your hands and arms (artistically, I'm not sadistic ;)
The white background is very interesting, as most photogs (including me) went for dark, moody shots. Very neat and sharp, good lighting. I'm not sure about the upper part of the picture, above the hands. I think it could have been cropped. 10.
