| while i appreciate what you've entered here, i do think it has some things working against it as far as a challenge entry goes. the lighting at this time of day is anything but helpful, as the light and shadows are too strong for the magnificent details to come through. compositionally, you are fine, but your sky is not adding anything to the image. i hope you aren't getting overlooked in this monster-size challenge, and that you are getting some good comments and suggestions. if not, please don't take it personally. just consider this a starting point for the rest of the year. good luck in this and the challenges yet to come! |

| Some of the most spectular scenery in the world, and yet it still lacks impact in this photo. I had the same problem myself visiting the valley on a gorgeous summers day - high contrast, pure blue sky and lack of specific interest. Sunrise, sunset, storm onset - these would really have changed the mood significantly and helped make that dramatic scenery so much more exciting. Maybe in B&W? |

| Pretty scene. The composition seems to be lacking a little extra kick - needs something more to break into the elite here, but this remains a solid shot. |

| Beautiful place. I always enjoy viewing images from Yosemite. The lighting on this one seems harsh on the rocks. A lower angle of the sun probably would have brought out more texture in the rocks. I love the clear sky and Half Dome in the distance. Nice job. |

| different time of day, season, etc. would make this view mor einteresting. |
