Yes, so the chewing gum isn't all that pretty but what can I say, an ugly bubble gum fits me well.

The technique used here is backlighting, simple yet useful and a technique that I just can't get enough. A 500W light put behind me while I tried different poses, didn't use a timer cause the camera was reachable. White professional background paper behind me.

Taking in RAW format: exposure, temperature, shadows, contrast and saturation.

It might not be new grounds, but it is an innovative technique.

Woot 69!! That's the best ever, now what can I say?

Thanks for the helpful comments, especially about cropping the bottom. You are too right about that.

I wish more of the bottom was cropped, that the picture ended at the bottom of the lowest strand of hair showing

the backlighting is too strong, it fades some details like the gum and hair. but its a cool pose and composition

This is a supurb technique, and it has given me some personal inspiration to try counter-intuitive lighting for portraits.

IMO, should be "Casper's Kiss" (looks like Casper The Ghost).

Fantastic lighting! I like the profile with just enough light to give me a glimpse of the subjects face. Also like the gum chewing. Good job.

this is an intrusting image but there are several things that bother me about it
1 of which is the eye..it appears to be looking toward the camer which is kinda unnatrual and distracting from the image. the technique is ok (just plan backlighting but done well) however the skin tones ever for shadow or low light are all off. lastly the position of the person, IMO should be more sideways and less 3/4 or maybe it is me but it looks like the photog. is the subject it this, seems as if the person in the image is also holding the camer which would explain the 3/4ish nature to the model.

my recomendation next time use the timer or a remot, with a custom white bal., and a lower ISO&middel shutter like 1/60

it might produce more of a siloquette and get the skin to be skin like as well as lighting the gun just fine GL in the challenge fine image great idea, could have better exicution to make it less "rough around the edges"(so to speak).

I feel this meets the challenge well. Love the backlighting. For some reason I find the hair distracting, but I still think its great.

I like the way the bubble looks but you could stand to lose some of the black on the bottom of the shot. I keep staring at the black and not looking at the rest of the shot.

bubble gum is a pet peeve of mine, but I think this is a very interesting and different way to look at portraits -7
