Fantastic lighting, reflection, focus and dof. The border doesn't fit for me. I gave a 9.

Great balance. Don't take any flack about the border to heart. It is part of the desgn.

Looks very much like a computer-generated piece of art, except for the fallen piece. I like how you've managed to make that one piece look as though it was shot in a different light. The foremost piece looks a bit out of focus, and I don't like the uneven border.

I really like the way you have the chess pieces set up in this shot, it really gives the feeling that the "clear" King was overwhelmed by his enemies. Nice work.

I don't care for the border at all but everything inside the white frame is amazing. 9.

I like the contrast of the Frosted chessmen and the shiny one. nice use of lighting.
Interesting composition.

hm, i get what you're trying to do, but compositionally, even though the fallen piece is on its side, it is still rather close to the standing pieces, and the angle it's laying out is fairly close to the perspective angle of the other pieces. maybe if it was seperated a bit from the group, or turned in the other direction, but as it is, i'm not exactly getting 'fallen.' it evokes something closer to worship, or wanting to belong, or bowing before power. but that's just the symbolism - the photo itself is beautiful

Nice shot! The colors of the surface and background really lend themselves to that of a chess board: simple, sharp, black and white.

Wonderful chess photo. The positioning of the pieces and horizon makes this a very strong composition. I like the near perfect symmetry of the black pieces an their frosted finish causes a very nice subtle grey tone that also provides a nice transition from the black background to the bright tone of the chessboard (the fields are just visible).

Beautiful composition. Outer black border is pushing the limits of good taste but seems to work. I've never had much luck with borders so I keep them simple if anything. Would've liked just a hint more contrast in the image to make the highlights pop.

Pity the border is so big on the sides and distracts from a very nice photo.

As always... someone puts in the chess shot And yours is the best of the bunch.
I will be interested to see if you are the same person who has used thie same chess pieces in other challenges. 8 from me

this is a beautiful photo, made even more powerful by being in grayscale, but unfortuneately, i don't understand the symbolism because i haven't seen the movie

i know the "fallen" piece was necessary for the shot ... but the most interesting part is the grafic you created with the other pieces

Good picture to fit the title. I like the lighting, the transluscent figurines, the composition and the reflection. Your border should have the same width everywhere though, it's quite distracting. If it were even it would look much better. 7.
