This took shot took ages. Mostly planning: went too about 15 charity shops till i found a mickey mouse alarmclock to dismantle... then got lots of funny looks in the market looking for the perfect orange (ended up buying 6 as i couldnt decide). Then got a satsuma, as they had leaves and after hollowing out the orange superglued it to the top, i thought the extra colour livened it up a bit. Got orange card round the back of the orange so you cant see the background through the hole.

Background was white statin-like cloth and used two lamps for lighting. Used a Cir-polarising filter to reduce glare and also a blue (cooling) filter to enhance the colours of the orange against the background.

Took about 50 shots with every possible combination of lights, filters etc... it was a nightmare to pick the best and even now i'm not entirely happy. Think I'll get picked up on the leaf being slightly out of focus, the slight crease in my backdrop (RHS), and possibly the highlights on the orange. But its only my fifth challenge!

GREAT FOTO!! I am very new, not even having entered any challenges yet. This was the movie that I would have chosen. It is one of my favorites. I love the way you executed this pic. Great idea using the orange paper backing, so you can make the ornage look complete in back. I love the gears and springs, you did an excellent job. It should have been first IMO.

Great job on the setup. Very nice focus, color and dof. The leaf is what makes the shot and at the same time, part of an eye distraction. I gave you a 9

One of my 2 favorite "clockwork" images. Only thing I would change is maybe the background color, I'd like to see a stark white or maybe black

very neat! And the fact that there are a lot of these doesn't detract from the fact that this is beautifully rendered. 9

Welcome to the CWO club :) Good execution. Sharp, nice textures, good use of colours. The line on the right side is slightly distracting. The idea tohave the mechanics inside is great. 10.

This orange can eat you, grind you and spew you out like cream. Good take with clear cut presentation.

Nice. I don't know how you could light the outside and the inside so well.

Just a little too much glare on the peel stops me given you a Bo Derek. So I have settled for 1 less.
You have a good ideas, which whilst not totally unique, is certainly brilliantly executed.
