Greetings from the Critique Club!

Snow always makes photography tricky. In the background, it fools the lightmeter into underexposing the subject. As a subject, like this photo, it tends to be overexposed since it is so much brighter than the background. Unfortunately, once a camera sensor pixel is "burned out", detail is lost; no amount of postprocessing can bring it back. That's why the top of the "flower" is lacking the rich texture visible in the bottom part.

That technical problem aside, this is a great subject. A vertical format may have worked better, but the point of view is perfect, as is the depth of field. I don't know how many people "got it", but I find the photo both humorous and beautiful.

while i appreciate your effort here, i am finding your background more of a distraction than a complimentary enhancement to your subject. i think your image would be a lot stronger if you cropped off the left 30% of the image (hold your hand up to the screen to see what i mean). the lightness leads my eye away from the subject and ultimately off the image.

The short definition of Bokeh from KenRockwell.com, which I am using for voting on this challenge: "Bokeh describes the rendition of out-of-focus points of light." Check. Is the subject enhanced by the bokeh of the background? Check. Nice. Cold.
